Truck Campers
Just thinking about getting one for my 2003 F-250.
Just wondering if you had any thoughts on getting one and what you use yours for and how much to pay? Just the 2 of us and maybe some of the time our son will travel to parts unknown |

Love ours. Have had everything from Class A motorhomes to 5th wheel campers to a tent. We sold our fifth and am now very happy with the truck camper. Has everything the fifth had except floort space. Now we are able to bring a boat or enclosed trailer with the car in it. And the boat is a zodiac so we can put it in the enclosed and take everything

We bought a used '96 Lance, the biggest one they made that year, and are ok about it. We have it perched on our 2001 F350 diesel 4x4, and pulling the P-car on a small trailer, still go 75mph down the highway. These are great track day campers, smaller footprint than the big boys, and having your own sleeping/eating/bathroom/beer fridge at the track is priceless.
For camping though, it's a bit small for us, two adults and two dogs. I think if you use it to sleep/eat, and you spend more of your time outdoors, they're perfect.

Yup. For mobility and flexibility, truck campers are great. Eat/sleep in them, store your food/bedding, works just fine. My wife and I can spend about two weeks max in one of these guys before the close quarters get to be too much.

Artic Fox all the way. (built by Nash Trailers in Oregon, high end stuff with mid-range pricing)
at the Dealer I had a Lance camper loaded on the truck, (they're very nice too, but) even had a fully paid-it-off check in my pocket, but the vibe wasn't right, Love my Artic Fox 990 with full side slide out. You'll need airbags, proper load bearing tires, and Rancho 9000 click adjust dampening shocks for sway control..... New campers, even my 10 footer 990 are heavy, mine is about 4500 pounds. link: https://www.google.com/search?q=arctic+fox+990&rlz=1T4GGLL_enUS416US416&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Fo0bU_HDOoe7oQTYzIK4DA&ved=0CCkQsAQ&biw=1920&bih=930 any bigger and you'll need a dually truck. ![]()

I've looked into them pretty close. There are several TC websites and forums for them out there, here are the ones I go to...

If you have a crew cab with a short bed, they are pretty tiny inside.
