Try some tuna juice on their turds so they come back and eat it.

Annoy your neighbors dogs and cats.

My stupid neighbors dont obey the leash laws, and let their pets roam free. I was constantly having to clean cat and dog mess from my yard. It was so bad that when I would mow my lawn the tires of the lawnmower would be totally covered in brown matter, if you know what I mean. So I figured I would give the scarecrow a try. Works great, I have on video two dogs going into my yard to do their business, then the scarecrow blasts them point blank in the face with water. It was Hilarious, one of the dogs took off, but the other one panicked and ran around the circles not knowing how to get out of my yard through the fence, even though my gate was wide open. The dogs haven't been in my yard since. I seen cats get blasted with water too. My neighbors are mad though, because their dogs are now messing in their own yard, and everytime they walk in their yard they step in it, very funny. One thing that needs to be improved though is battery life, 9 volt batteries have very little capacity and go dead in less than a month if the unit goes off alot. It would be great if the unit could run on 4 D cells, then the scarecrow could run more than a year on one set of batteries. I bought lithium rechargeables in order to save money, plus they last longer than alkaline 9 volt batteries. Overall great product and alot of fun to watch it work.

I was going to be my suggestion this as well. You can also buy dried ox blood mix it with the moth flakes. you will nee to replenish about every three moths depending on the amount of precipitation.

An airsoft gun would be non lethal but does require some aim unless you go full auto at which point you could walk the bbs into the cat.

At our old house we had issues with the neighbor cats jumping up on the cars so I put a bunch of the rat trap glue boards on the cars. It was hilarious watching the cat flipping and rolling for a few minutes because it had feet stuck on the board.

It isn't the cat's fault.

Are the cats feral or do they have owners? In either case, trap and pound is the most humane way to deal with it. I can't really bring myself to torture animals. Well, except maybe coyotes...

I live 'in the city'.
One of my cats died in January.
Very suddenly.

He was a sweethart: Hang him by his feet and scratch his belly and he'd purr.
Both cats stay within the block.
I have to coax them to walk further. Look left and right, it was foreign territory.

He died with 1 day notice.
Cat was whining one day, and buried the next.

Vet said it was due to long-term renal failure, from kidney stones.
No. Lying POS.
It was probably poison.

He'd gone missing for 3-4 day previously, during a critical time period.
Perhaps locked in a garage.
Perhaps some neighbor killed my pet intentionally.

Think about that for a second...

John, sorry about your cat. But if you want your pet to stay safe, keep it at your house. My dog is always in my fenced back yard or on a leash, period. Just because she's an animal doesn't give her the right to roam free and crap in my neighbor's yard or destroy their property.

all true..
but would you not prefer to be made aware you dogs barks..
first..
rather than the neighbor just tossing a laced treat over the fence...

and for those curious as to how it may feel...(anti-freeze poisoning)
may I suggest you drink a glass of gas...

If she barks at night I'm the first one out there to yell at her. That's not something I tolerate. Fortunately she's not much of a barker, she's too busy chewing on my siding.

Bad cologne works ......but then your house smells like
Grampa Munster.

Cat crap = zero destruction of property.

Bird loss? Yes.
If you have a bird feeder and known neighborhood cats are interfering, then by all means fix the problem constructively.
(known feral cats being the exception)

Talk to the known owner.
I would keep them indoors when notified.
I would expect the same of other feline owners.

So that makes it ok to let your pet crap in someone else's yard? I can tell you that I just LOVE it when my kids step in dog crap in the front yard (where my dog isn't), thanks to multiple disrespectful neighbors who let their dogs run wild. It's about common courtesy and respect for others.

Especially funny when the neighbors toddler wanders into your yard and tries some of the lime cool aide you left out for them.

Well, I don't kill the neighbor's dogs either. I just fling the poo back in their driveway, hoping that they step in it as they climb into their cars.

Petshed Petcyclopedia : Human Risk From Cat Worms

Keep your cat out of my yard and flowerbed.

nostatic 03-14-2014 01:38 PM

My cats never go outside the house. Not sure there is any environment that is particularly safe for them - urban is bad due to cars and humans, rural is bad due to predators. Turns out they are happy staying in the house, and the oldest is 15 going on whatever (adopted from a shelter as an adult back in '00).

As for the bird feeder - what do you expect the cats to do? While they are domesticated, they still are animals with hard-coded behaviors. Fault the owner, not the animal.

See: Get a dog... dogs love cat turds... cat turds gone, dog get doggy treats win/win.

RE: Cats and birds, probably half the birds out there are invasive species.

cantdrv55 03-14-2014 07:50 PM

They are feral cats for sure; no visible collar. They love my yard because my house backs up to an open field where they do their hunting.
