Trooper pleads guilty in theft from dying motorist

Prosecutors say Huntsman, a 19-year veteran of the state police, was caught on video from his cruiser's dashboard camera stealing a gold chain and $3,700 from 49-year-old John Scalesse as the motorcyclist lay dying on Sept. 22, 2012.

Scalesse was fatally injured when his motorcycle crashed on the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield.

Huntsman faces 18 months in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 3.

Most thieves would get probation/slap on the wrist/don't do it again lecture from the judge......

He deserves much more for violating the public trust and letting down his brother/sister officers that put their lives on the line every day.............

For felony theft? Sorry, you are mistaken. There is no place I know of where you would get probation for taking thousands of dollars off of someone's body who was in distress/injured on the road.

This was a hideous crime.

I said my radar would be on higher alert.

The uniform they wore would dictate my comfort level.

a former CHIEF of LEO's in a very large city..
who knowingly looked the other way..
and condoned the abuse of suspect's...
now serving time for same...
is getting his 3 K a month pension...
