Stumbled upon this. Found it interesting.

I was at Group B rally in Kirchheim Germany when Mark Surer wrecked and killed his co-driver. It was the final nail in the coffin of group B.
Didn't even know it had happened until I got home and saw it on the news. I think the wreck put Surer out of racing permanently as well. Sad on all three counts... Carter |

the sport has changed
back in the 50-60's drivers drove for the team f-1 f-2 and sports cars same team, same team members, different class cars on a given weekend the top level were not really separate like today |

1950 to 1959 points were awarded by the FIA for indy
as we had no GP and indy ran the 1950 4.5 rule |
