New Orleans British Car show and Some very good Art work
Spent some time today in New Orleans at the British car show. Lots of really nice cars. Also met my cousin there who is a phenomenal artist. She specializes in automotive art with a specialty on reflective painting. the first picture is what she did. For more info her web site is Lory Lockwood - Automotive Fine Art Motorcycle Art

To make sure you understand the first picture is a painting not a photograph.

Nice painting...but to make sure I understand, the first picture is not a photograph, but rather a painting of a photograph?

You are totally blessed to live in a part of the world where your old cars have not rusted to death. Great collection of cars and thanks for the pics.
Back in the 1960's in Calgary I test drove a used Austin Healey 3000. There was a rust hole right through the body work just in front of the trunk lid. I passed on that one and bought a 1958 TR3. It got rust through the rocker panels a couple of years later. Thanks for those pics. Brings back great memories.....G ![]() |

What are those first red cars, MG's? What years? And how costly are they to keep up, generally speaking?

Sorry about no pics of triumphs. There were a big number or TR3's, 4's, and a lot of 6's, with a few Stags and 6 or 7 Spits. I though I had taken pics of the TR6's but apparently I didn't.

MG model TD - about 1952-4
Quote:
I believe they are the first LHD MGs that were made. Mechanically they are very simple and maintaining them is a fraction of P car prices. The body work has a wooden backing & will lead to the doors sagging if rotten. But then again its relatively easy to fix & there are lots of parts suppliers like PParts. They have a small 4 cyl motor (about 1250cc ??) so performance is limited. In good tune they will cruise happily with 2 people at 60mph, top speed about 75 - 80mph. They are pretty cars that are remembered with affection by most ex owners. Peter - Melb. Last edited by zelrik911; 03-23-2014 at 04:25 PM.. Reason: Mixed up TDs & TFs memory fading!! |
