I like the pistol grip as well but would consider a powered gun for future use.

have had bad luck with generic brands btw.

If I used my grease gun a lot I would think about an air powered unit. But the 4 times per year use on less than a dozen zerks just is not a challenge for me with a manual unit.

oil leakage means the grease is getting old - just think of it as synovial fluid...

IIRC, you can now buy a canister of grease that fits into a caulk gun

I've got some grease that won't separate, and will stay in place for a ridiculous amount of time. But if you spill it, you can't clean it up with normal solvents.

I'd say stay with ordinary grease, use an ordinary grease gun.

Just to re-inforce a little tool safety, can anyone tell us how much pressure an average grease gun is capable of putting out?

That's right, a cheapo can put out 3500 psi, a decent one can go 5000#, a really good one can hit 10,000 psi.

That's enough to make metal parts go boom, to sent a zirk fitting across the room like a 22LR, and to make grease shoot out a leaking zirk at a velocity capable of creating an entry AND an exit wound.

Don't take them for granite, always wear eye and face protection, gloves, etc.

Amazon sux.

A couple of weeks ago I bought some flea stuff for the dog for $25 through amazon because he started scratching.
A week later he was driving everyone crazy and I couldn't wait anymore. I went to wally-mart and bought the zact same stuff fer $18.95
5 days later the stuff from amazon showed up.

Wally-mart is cheaper than amazon and way faster. Gonna remember that.

Don't even try the Harbor Freight air one, its the only tool of theirs that I've had that flat out didn't work at all, and I tried 3...
