I live in Oregon so A/C is not too much of an issue . . .

The E28 has been a long-time favorite of mine, although I have never owned one. I've had two E30s and four E36 M3s. Almost pulled the trigger on an E28 M5 once. It was a Canadian car with black interior. Damn! My understanding is that the M5s are expensive to maintain due to the unique parts and the engine is a PITA to keep tuned (ITBs) and running optimally. I would likely buy a 535iS as a DD as power is not as important as reliability and cost of maintenance. But it would still be relatively fun with a sport suspension.
Every week I fantasy shop for an E28. I daily my 993 now but the prices are climbing to the point that it might not make sense to put as many miles on it any more. I can't believe I just typed that. Some pics for inspiration. An Alpina replica or a set of Style 5s on a 535iS would be sweet. http://media.voiture-miniature.com/i...rouge_88_2.jpg http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/73...5e7119baad.jpg http://germancarsforsaleblog.com/wp-.../Picture-4.png |

I owned a 2006 E46 M3 (six speed manual) that was a joy to drive and maintain, but I could sense the time was right with mileage vs. depreciation vs. market value, and I was always a little nervous about some of the strange failures (subframe, VANOS, etc.) other owners were reporting for such a "high-end" car. |
Busta- whomever told you that was likely screwing with the ITB's. Mine were never touched in 160k

I sold one recently. Once upon a time they were nice cars. Mine had over 200k on it, still ran well. A lot of maintenance though. It liked to go through brakes and suspension bits. I liked it, but don't miss it.

Wow..that red M5 that Busta posted is amazing
