What a coincidence that I took my Mercedes in to the dealer yesterday to switch the winter tires to the summer tires. When I went to pick up the car the kid drove it up and I was on the drivers side got in the car went home and noticed the right front bumper was damaged quite a bit. Looks like someone hit a wall with it. I went back to the dealer and luckily they take pictures of the car when it comes in to document any existing damage. We looked at the pictures and no damage when brought in. They were very accommodating and apologetic. They are fixing it but now the car will be tied up for three days.

Spammer, well not really but sorta kinda. If you notice they all end with an emoticon. The emoticon is not one generated by the forum tags but is actually a linked image.

Search engines read it and see it as a back link. One of the metrics for site relevancy is how many other sites link back to yours.

It's a spammy SEO tactic.

I reported user along with the other 5 or so names he is using on Pelican.

This.
Report them as you see them.
Mods can ban the user name and remove all of their posts.
Angry mods can trace their IP and ban it.
Really angry mods can file a complaint with the spammers ISP, put them on the DNSBL, report to Spamhaus, etc.

Yep, I spot them immediately (recently joined, random name, and the "different" emoticon). Didn't realize about the back link aspect. Would it typically be a "real person" behind the posts, or some sort of "bot"? I'll start reporting them too if that's what it takes....thanks!
