Lifted trucks, any body here done any, wanna share some pics?

Maybe it is all the pipe line guys that I pass on a daily basis on my way to and from work every day, not sure, but I've got the jones to play with trucks right now. I broke some leaf springs hauling wood on my current truck , and while I had it all apart to repair it , I ended up lifting the rear 2", and the front 3, and added some decent shocks. I like the look, and the ride, and it's grown on me. This truck is sort of a beater, but I think I want to do a nice one.
Nothing too crazy, maybe just 2-3" and some decent wheels and a few add ons here and there.
I'm upgrading my shop/work/daily, and picking up a 2500 hd truck this weekend. Black extended cab, I think it would look sweet like this .

I think this one just has the front levelled, maybe up 2" in the front. This is probably where I'll end up, and just use stock wheels, and tire sizes. They ride pretty high to start with, just look silly raked nose down. This way it won't drive like crap and eat front end parts.
I had an abnoxious blazer that I re did a long time ago, but never drove it, and ended up selling it to fuel my budding porsche habit at the time.
Never thought I'd be a truck guy, but they are kind of fun to play with. Don't pick on me, it's just that time in my life right now. If I gotta have a work truck, might as well make it nice.
Maybe I need to tune into some country stations?

That Silverado needs bigger and more aggressive tires.

I don't have any current pictures, but my 2012 F150 SuperCrew 4x4 has Bilstein 5100s set to give it a front level (about 1.5"), Raptor wheels with 33" BFG AT tires (stock was 32"), and a Raptor exhaust system. It drives better than stock but looks great.

Fred, you redneck mo'fo

I remember the first time I ever saw a 3/4 ton Suburban with a nice lift and really big tires, vividly. It was coming down Mt Rose Hwy, I was going up. Limo tint windows, ski racks, little steps that fold out so you can actually get in and out of it. Loud, big block Chevy, looked like what the guys in the black helicopters drive to get to the airport. I saw the thing at Raley's the next day and asked the guy about it when he came out of the store. He had no idea about that truck. He rented it in Vegas, went to Yosemite, then Tahoe. Well, he did say it was a pig on gas, but it took all the people and gear where he wanted to go and had a kick ass sound system in it.

Not lifted but with 20's, this looks pretty much right to me. Tough enough to get into.
I'm getting old, I guess.

I thought this thread would be about lifted trucks. It's not.

I hear you. The lifted truck fad is for young'uns. I use my truck a lot. Getting in and out several times a day is getting to be a pain even with standard 4x4 ride height. If I modified it at all it would be to lower it a tad (but even that's not going to happen).

My truck has larger wheels & tires than original, but still has stock suspension so the height to lift things into the box is not ridiculous. Just a bit of trimming at the front fenders so there is no rubbing at full steering lock. The only downside is tire chains cannot be used in the front when playing in deep snow. So far, never been a problem to chain up the rears only.

The Jeep, however, had to go up a ways to get the properly-sized tires to fit.
Stock Jeeps look silly on the whimpy tires they come with. Pretty amazing what a few extra inches of tire diameter will do when goofing off out in the wilderness.

Nothing looks more wrong than a stock Wrangler with car ride height and highway tread tires.

Mine is not lifted and running at stock height on stock 14.5x20 tires. But it still has 20" of clearance under the diff. First step is a big one, but keeps me in shape.

The 79 F-Series is one of the best looking trucks ever, lifted, lowered, stock, doesn't matter

Agreed. I'm also a sucker for that era of GM truck, my first truck was a '79 Scottsdale with a rebuilt 350 and a 3.90 rear end, it would powerbrake all day long.

Stone, that's a great looking 1st gen Bronco. I'd love to have one of those or an FJ40, too bad both are appreciating beyond my toy budget.

One of my favorites is the 1977 Dodge Power Wagon 4x4. With a modest lift, these look great.

Here are a couple we have sold over the years, the Dodge 2500, 3500 lifted 4-6 inches with 35's are some of the best looking and performing trucks on the road.
The Chevy is a 2500 4x4, but a little extreme with 53" Michelins, Duramax Diesel, and probably a 50" lift. We use it for car shows and promotions.

Well, technically not a truck, but used as one. Traded my Tundra for a 4Runner. Works, for the most part, just as well. Better ride and mpg.
