Abandoned NYC - Photos and their stories of abandoned places in NYC. Interesting!
Very interesting site - especially if you are into photography. Check out 'Creedmoor State Hospital' and the '1964 World's Fair'.

That's really cool. Abandoned buildings have a odd allure to me. Maybe a glimpse into a post-apocalypse future?

Me and my friends spent a lot of days and nights in our teenage years, scaring the crap out of ourselves exploring through these buildings on
Staten Island. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Forgotten NY is a pretty cool site as well. I also spend a lot of time on sites that have scans of old maps..

Makes the Adirondack Park abandoned prop seem like vacationland.

I've eaten at this place, lower West Side Highway, it was a BBQ joint many years ago. Friends live a few blocks in. Food was not that great, HORRIBLE location, even with delivery being the norm. The building itself was very cool, especially the interior which was done up industrial/art deco.
I love NYC. Quote:

"Fry two let the sunshine" "whiskey down cow paste... Cup a"
I had more than a few greasy breakfasts in that diner... I like trying to piece together the layout and geography around me, Google Maps is and amazing an somewhat scary tool.... This old airfield is now one of the largest shopping malls in the states.. ![]() A map from a few years later.... I crack up at the notation"old hospital" and "new hospital" on a map that is 70 years old or so... ![]() If you look on Google Maps and search Roosevelt Field, you can find the old right-of-ways, abandoned properties farms, roads..

Some cool photos but how is it possible in New York City? Surely the value of the land alone would make it worth developing.
Also... "Mature" grave yards are interesting. We seem to have lots of children in our Pioneer grave yards. We have lots of these. I visit them when I can and I always wonder about the story and history of the house. ![]()

Not the same, but I always took pics of NY bridges when I had my Targa.
