I would paint it to match the red barons plane and I would never get it above 20ft off the ground. If I needed to bail, I could just dump it in the lake

I like the chair in the background more than the plane...

Offer him two and wait. It's my observation that it's hard to sell ultralights.

Why? Because most people with half a brain don't want to fly in something that Cletus and cooter put together in the backyard?!

I would be willing to try it once... but I may get so scared that I would have lost five grand for the experience. For my nieces runway, I would only have to make it about a quarter mile till I would be over the lake, I figure I could make a soft landing there if need be... Chop the throttle and glide in, pull back on the stick right before I stall... even looks like it would float

This is my ultralight anecdote.
Dad had a minimax much like the plane in question. He crashed it (no injuries, he was low and the plane is slow) so he built a Sky Raider, kind of like the one in this picture. but not quite this nice. ![]() After he had a stroke, we put it on the market. Even with a terrific support group of his pilot buddies trying to peddle it in a variety of regional enthusiast magazines for something like 7000 bucks (including a clever little trailer and a very low mileage motor), we finally sold it a few YEARS later for less than what the minimax in this thread is being offered for. My memory is foggy, but it seems like we got around 45 to 48 for it. If you're half interested, offer him 2000 bucks. 5800 seems WAY high for this airplane. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wavey.gif

Sorry about your dad HO, I know that pic is not his plane, but if it was anything near that, I am sure he got alot of enjoyment out of it...

It's made out of wood! How light could it be?

A water landing is much harder than a grass landing, just saying. Flying at twenty feet would kind of limit you to flying straight and level because you wouldn't want to attempt a turn so close to the ground.

Last thing I would buy would be an EXP made by someone else. Sounds like he doesn't have the nuts to fly it!
