New ferry Nova Scotia to Maine

The new "Nova Star" to once again make regular runs between Yarmouth, NS and Portland, Me. Very popular passage, we've made many times including on the "Cat"
which last ran sometime in 2009 I believe.

Daytime from NS to Maine then overnight Maine to NS. The Casino gets to lighten your wallet a bit too. Welcome back!

Now that I look at this picture, not many life boats for a large ferry. Probably just for the Capt and crew. (Just kiddin') Brave Bluenosers would be the last to board a lifeboat, and not before all others were safe!

wait a minute, what happened to the high speed ferry that used to run between Bar Harbor and Yarmouth NS and then Yarmouth to Portland?

We took that summer 2008 and had a great vacation in NS. High speed crossing from Bar Harbor to Yarmouth is 100 mi and ~3 hrs.

"The Cat" didn't come back.

The operator, Bay Ferries said they couldn't make money.

This service is being provided by a new operator.

I remember the news report when the CAT was put into service. Built in OZ. Made from aluminum. Too bad, looked like a fun ride.

The thing to remember about Rappie Pie is: every little restaurant that makes their own (some get it from a place in Saulnierville), will have a different receipe and combination of spices. The taste changes from Belliveau's Cove to West Pubnico. Vive la difference!
Ususlly, if you get rappie pie outside of the French shore, it will have come from the bakery in Saulnierville.

If you make it to the Annapolis Royal area, try The Olde Town Pub or Bistro East and stop in to see me at the Tidal Power Interpretive Centre.

Up here in PEI and most of NB it's "Rapure" and very different from South and French shore NS. I lived in Yarmouth for a time and rappie pie is not like ours at all. But still good, but diff.

We slather ours with molasses, BTW.

Also can recommend the ferry from USA to Yarmouth and on up to Halifax (nice city) then up to Cape Breton/ Cabot Trail , then Ferry over to PEI and then Bridge from PEI to NB. Then back to Maine through Calais. A nice 4-5 day (Or a week) trip especially with your Porsche.
