I have purchased 2 cars from Porsche under the CPO program. I have never had any of the experiences that man is talking about. My cars have been very reliable, and PNA has actually bent over backwards to keep me happy. They replaced both of the exhaust cans in my 997 out of warranty, simply because a rattle had developed in one of them. They did nothing to my 986 boxster because the car was flawless for the 2 years I owned it.

I'm not calling the man a liar, but my experience has been the direct opposite.

I don't see how making a video helps his cause. Unless his cause is to draw attention to himself.

Obviously not a good experience but in my opinion some people are never happy regardless of what you try to do for them.
This guy likes review stuff on YouTube so I'm not sure about his motives or credibility.

And as mentioned above we are not getting Porsche's side of the story and I would bet you theirs would be very different.

However the more recent issue with water in the car was probably caused by a mechanic not replacing a panel somewhere at the base of the windshield.
The panel is probably sitting in a rubbish bit at the dealership.

All in all pretty sad. If it was up to me I'd give him money back just to get rid of him.

-----------------------------------------

Another story... I do personally know someone who owned a BMW X5 and his car developed an issue were the engine would suddenly stop for no apparent reason and then the check engine light would come on.
The owner took it back to the dealership many times times to get fixed. Over a long period of 9 months they changed the computer and multiple sensors and switches in the car.

There was some improvement but the engine would still just stop.

In the end they gave him a brand new X5 which has run flawlessly for years.

He is a long standing customer so the decision to give him a brand new car may have been done in house.

Seems to be another example of the problems with newer german cars and the electrical components. Usually it happens after the warranty expires. PNA should have bought that car back long ago. He may be a self described a'hole, but he does have a point.

PCNA should buy that car back, ship it to Germany and take it apart and find out what problems it has. Give that car to the production manager as his company car and let him drive it.

For all those problems he has a lemon and Porsche AG needs to find the real cause of the problems. Germans will have a precise record of what day that car was made and who did what on the production line. They need to KNOW that type of thing can't happen in a high dollar car they is trying to be at the top of the customer satisfaction list.

All true but before anything can happen someone needs to take ownership of the problem.

The dealer would argue that Porsche should fix it. Porsche argues back that the dealer mechanics should be able to put it right... PCNA probably doesn't want to get involved because it's not their problem so why make it so?

At the end of the day it's about money. Customer satisfaction is a distant second.
Regardless of what happens with this guy their marketing dept will find new customers.

And on and on it goes...

I watched it via link I saw on Rennlist. For sure, I'm sorry about all the problems he's having. The car does seem to be a lemon, hearing only his side. However, I wonder if Porsche is attempting to settle with him by offering him a refund less a "usage" fee for the miles he did incur? And I wonder if he's expecting a full refund and then some (pain and suffering)? And I wonder if that's why he keeps on with the videos...to be the squeaky wheel that gets his and maybe a bit more. Hard to know, only hearing one side.

They usually try to make new car customers happy, JD Power ratings rule the day now.

FWIW, I know someone who had a 997 cab lemon that was taken back, all of his lease payments refunded. It had some relatively minor issues but they could not fix them after several tries and he has a good lawyer.

I know someone else who bought a new Audi back in about 2011 that was a true lemon but he just dumped it at a big loss. Most of the people I know who've bought new Porsches in recent years have had zero problems.

From what he's saying, Porsche is offering him almost all of his money back and they're a few thousand dollars apart. In CA, your refund is pro-rated against how many miles out of 120,000 you got when the problems began. He mentioned in his glowing 6 month review that he had 4 warranty issues already with about 12,000 miles, so it sounds like his problems started fairly early. I don't see the point in Porsche trying to save a few thousand dollars in this case, as all his troubles seem to merit a full refund, assuming the case is as he claims it is (a big if). It seems to me Porsche is losing a lot more than it's gaining here.

I can't believe that the local dealership can figure out the source of the problem. Water in the car?! Come on. There is serious defect somewhere, that is likely leading to these other issues.

If he is being honest, I feel badly for him. But the numbers don't lie, Porsche has excellent quality ratings, and my experience has born that out.

I just watched the video a couple of times. From the way the guy explained it, it seems that Porsche is attempting to settle early (and possibly a lower amount) to avoid going to arbitration. The guy is holding firm in that he wants his money back or a like-for-like exchange for a new car.

A replacement with a comparable new car OR a refund of the contract price are both listed as general awards in arbitration in Connecticut thought there are provisions for mileage. The car has CT tags in his video so it is only a guess that he purchased the car from a dealer in the state. DCP: Questions Frequently Asked About the Lemon Law Program

BTW, I think I see the cause of the problems. Someone put roof racks on the car.
