My Sonicare is/was possessed.
Brushing my teeth yesterday at 8 am and when I was done my Sonicare toothbrush wouldn't shut off.
No matter how hard or what I jabbed the button with...it would not quit running. It makes a bit of noise, so first I dumped it into the wastebasket, but that was too loud inside the house...so I took the garbage with the toothbrush out to my trash cart.....and I could easily hear it running when outside. (even half-way across the yard..the cart seemed to amplify the vibration noise) Three hours later, I left for lunch at the local pub and it was still running as loud as ever. I got home at mid-afternoon....still running. The last time I checked at 9pm it was unbelievably still running. It stopped sometime during the night because this morning it was quiet. I was thinking of taking a hammer to it the next morning if it was still running. It was getting kinda scary. It had been running for over 13 hours. Prime truck is bringing a different model Sonicare today. (diff start button)

That's some impressive battery life! Did you modify it to run on a 40V battery from one of those new electric weedeaters or something. Turned your toothbrush into a 10# tooth killer?
We've had one, I think about 15 years, and it's still working as well as it did when new.

Nope...original battery. It's less than 2 years old, but I noticed a few weeks back that the flexible plastic over the start/stop button was cracked.
I'm wondering if I should untie my garbage bag in the cart to see if it's still there or......

^^^ There will be a problem then.
![]() The Prime truck dropped off the new Model 4100 ten minutes ago and it's charging-up right now.

It is trying to save you from 8 crowns, 4 root canals, and 20,000 fillings in one visit?
It could be the most dedicated toothbrush ever. Or a vibrator in a past appliance life.

I had one that started by itself at random intervals. I could shut it off but it would be running at times when I passed by. Not on the charger base either. These are too expensive to be breaking like that not to mention dangerous. Old fashioned toothbrush for me now.

That might be the case....smart toothbrush. I clipped this from the manual of the new one... "How long should my Sonicare toothbrush battery last? Published on 13 July 2022 The battery life of your Sonicare toothbrush depends on how often and how long you brush. Based on a two minute brushing session twice per day, the battery will last at least two to three weeks with a full charge." That just doesn't jive with mine lasting over 9 hours in the trash can. The new one was $39.95

Honestly its best if you bury it and pour salt over the top to be safe.

And maybe some 'Holy Water' sprinkled on top for good measure.
