United Airlines found my iPad!

Left it on a flight to NYC last Xmas. Put in a lost item report, figured it was gone. In airplane mode, so "find my iPAD" didn't work. How they figured out it was mine I'll never know. They emailed me last week and asked for the passcode. Got it today.

Now it has my phone numbers on the lock screen. Only an iPad 1, but was glad to get it back. I had bought a Samsung Galaxy tablet in the interim.

I once left my Nikon on a United flight that I departed in SF when traveling home from Australia. I got it back as well.

4 months later, they only had a general description of an iPad 1. When they find it, I guess they tag what flight/day it was on. I had gone back to Newark Airport where I landed a few days later and they had a dozen, none of which were mine. They told me they get a couple of phones, tablets, laptops left on almost every flight.

Gotta ask....Do you now like the Galaxy better than the Ipad? I would like the ability to save pics/docs easier?

Lake,

haven't tried loading pics on the Galaxy, its nice but different. Its about five years newer than my iPad 1, so not really comparable. The camera doesn't seem that good. I got the Galaxy Tab 3, a little smaller than the regular iPad. You can't use iTunes with it, gotta use Google+ which is competitive for movie rentals and I think gives you 48 hours to finish a movie as compared to 24 hours for an iPad.

I really only use both for watching rented movies and surfing the net when I travel.

Wow, that's actually pretty darn amazing. I'm shocked.

I'm glad that you got it back. I've got an iPad 1 that was decent when there really weren't many other options, but due to low memory and slow processor (and being kind of heavy) got long in the tooth.

This past Christmas, I upgraded to an iPad Air. Wow, tons better. I use it all of the time, much more than I ever used the original. I also got one of the Logitech keyboards for it. That was also a great addition. It seems to run much better (I assume due to more processor and RAM) and is much lighter.

I lost my wireless mouse on AMTRAK.....they found it. Most travel workers are honest, it's the wankers that kill it for the rest.

Nice!

A buddy left his iPhone on the counter at United the other day,

We tracked it from Denver and it disappeared for 2 hours and reappeared in San Francisco, where the thief turned it on briefly on the tarmac at the gate. Then it disappeared forever.

Many years ago, I left a stuff animal on the night table in Victoria.

I call them the next day and find it during the cleanup.

Mail it across the country for free.

Son lost his wallet at the mall. He was upset about the $20, which is not insignificant to a 14 y/o, and all his various coupons and discount cards, also his school and state ID. I was upset about the house key that he kept in his wallet, which combined with the home address on his ID meant that we were going to call a locksmith to rekey nine (!) deadbolt locks - $300 or so. I told him to call all the stores he'd visited, and lo and behold his wallet had been turned in at the movie theatre. I took him back to the mall and he retrieved his wallet with everything still in it. The lesson is, most people are good. And, don't carry your house key in your wallet.

Updated it, Carbonite was 17 weeks out of date, an IOS update and a bunch of apps to update. But I still had the pics in the cloud. I had a $25 credit on iTunes that I couldn't load to it when I travel. I'll take the iPad on the next trip to use the $25 credit for movies. After that I don't know. I may just tuck it in the bigass RV for when we travel and watch downloaded movies when we can't run the generator due to night time noise rules.

My daughter left hers on a United flight a few days ago. She went bonkers when she realized. Thankfully, it's waiting for us at the airport lost-and-found.

I used to fly a ton and an airline employee once told me a couple hundred ipads/tablets are left on board every day. I almost left mine on a flight a couple weeks ago, in fact - they're easy to miss in the seatback pocket or if they slip down onto the floor. Especially if you're groggy and/or intoxicated...

My s/o left her iPhone in the ladies room of some dive bar in Nassau, Bahamas. Went back to the bar to see if it was turned in... no joy.. We then went to an internet cafe and tracked the phone and saw it moving around Nassau..away from town....

So we wrote the phone off as a loss... we went back to the ship and she was pretty dejected...had some dinner, casino etc.. later that night, She is in the shower, and the phone rings...

Its the concierge asking to speak with Miss Emily... I mention she is showering and ask the purpose of the call and the concierge asks if Emily had lost anything that day!!!

It turns out a woman who used the womans rest room after Em , saw the phone grabbed it and tried to chase us down... but lost us in the crowd.... This stranger then gave the phone to the restaurant manager (after we had returned asking about the phone)

The restaurant manager then gave the phone to the waitress who served us, she had chatted us up asking which ship we were on... The waitress brought the phone to the ship, and turned it in to someone in the boarding area, and the phone eventually made it to the concierge desk...

After Em was out of the shower and dressed, I mentioned we needed to go see the concierge

She was jumping around like a crazy person when the concierge put her phone on the counter....

Probably a dozen people took part in getting her phone back from the restaurant to the ship....

After all that I felt a little better, my faith in humanity got a good recharge...

ps: not that I was long winded...

Em got in touch with the waitress, got her address, and sent her a gift card and a Abercrombie shirt...
