Google David Suzuki mansion. This guy owns mansions and land all over the place. What a fraud.

When he talked about getting rid of roads and having car drivers pay everything I was wondering how the ambulance and fire trucks would get around and if they had to go to houses not paying for the roads they need.

My P car has been in storage for 9 years. I better go get it so I can drive it for a few days before this happens.

No buses go to some of the remote cell towers I have to work on. Have you ever been to Europe? I saw a lot of cars when I was there. Where do you come up with this stuff man.

What about cars? They are necessary sometimes. At night in the city, hauling stuff, weekend trip, family trips, etc.. But they should only be an alternative mode of transportation. Regular transportation, like going to and from work, light shopping, even certain weekend should be handled by an clean, safe, and speedy rail/bus system. That is the way it works in many European places. Why are we primarily stuck with slow and, most of the time, inefficient car transportation in the US?

This guy is just ranting. A serious war on cars would start with providing a viable alternative. There are plenty of people who would rather take a train or bus if one was available. We can't even get rid of cars for people who don't especially want them if they have no alternative. I would like to see 25% or more of the cars on the road sold or junked and their car-indifferent or car-hating owners riding on trains. Driving my cars would be much more enjoyable if I shared the road with people who really wanted to be there instead of people who clog up the roads only because there is no alternative.

Having read David Suzuki's blog post from the OP, I agree with some of what he is saying. I like the idea of more efficient cars and better infrastructure and planning for urban areas but he really doesn't address how to do this. Busses and trains are nice for city folks but not too nice for people who live in the sticks. Plus, I am not going to ride my bike two hours a day to get to work through snow and ice at 10 below zero. He kind of just leaves the rural areas out of the mix.

Ideas are nice but solutions are the future. Show us something that is not regressive to society. Show us the future that improves the human condition, not a window into the past.
