I hate meeting self important azzhats who think they are more important or interesting than I am simply because they are "creative". Creative is not an excuse to be a douche.

scottmandue 05-23-2014 10:05 AM

How coincidental, I hate meeting new people and pretending to be interesting!

J P Stein 05-23-2014 10:08 AM

I hate meeting/talking to people like me.
If I wanted to be more bored, I'd spend more time talking to myself.

Apparently not the case. :D

I keed!

I have said it before here, but it bears repeating: The classes in college that best prepared me for my future were Speech and Acting.

You need both.

porsche4life 05-23-2014 10:12 AM

What, learning to speak, and acting like you give a damn?

Both:D

In sales, which you are in, gotta have both. As a business owner, I am in sales every moment...every phone call (I had some big ones this morning) is an opportunity, a performance of sorts.

Or acting neutral when every fiber of your being screams, "DB" at the person sitting across from you.

I was in Philly Monday meeting with a potential investor, who flew in on his Lear (a bit cheesy compared to a GA, but I flew in on my Toyota Highlander).

We got on well, and the reason we were meeting was settled an hour in (all goodness, we meet in Nashville on Wednesday to settle T's and C's) but he was a bit of a story teller: 1400 became 1600 and I knew the traffic home was going to suck.

Nature of the beast.

I completely agree.

I find that if you hang out in people's gardens you can meet some really hot women. What do I care if they are interesting. Just as long as they have big tits. :)

Dude, you always talk weather and sports when we meet up!

Arizona_928 05-23-2014 11:02 AM

It all comes down to how much bs you can take before you become the op! Ignorance is strength

Just get a name tag with DILLIGAF and you're home free

This is why we live out in the country (no neigbors) or salsepeople knocking on the door. At this point in my life, I am not seeking out new friendships, and tend not to introduce myself at school functions or while camping, or new employees at work.

My wife drug me to a function of the University where she works. There were many bureaucrats and PhD types. I learned when I was in 3rd grade being shy is no fun so I quit being shy and I can talk to anyone. I enjoyed the event more than my wife did and she knew most of the folks there.

flipper35 05-23-2014 12:26 PM

I don't mind meeting new people because I really don't pretend to give a damn.

scottbombedout 05-23-2014 12:42 PM

I like meeting creative types just to tell them to f*** off.

slakjaw 05-23-2014 01:18 PM

Ok for a serious reply... Most people have an interesting story. You may have to drag it out of them.

This thread is wildly similar to the garden thread. Is this a joke or something?

Heel n Toe 05-23-2014 02:37 PM

I would like to place this thread in the running for thread of the year. Lovin' it.

This is a fact that cannot be denied.

BTW, I'm a creative person also. Never bored.

It's sometimes entertaining to be around boring, shallow people... it makes me grateful for not "being there."

L.O.L. @ sand_man for posting the link to the "Are You a Curmudgeon" test. :D

^^^^ This. I don't know when I learned it, but it's been a very valuable skill.
