What do you think of this timing belt?

Sticker on the air filter box said timing belt was last changed at 90K. Tundra has 180K on it now. Got the kit, started tearing it apart and found this, a new timing belt. Looked at the Craig's List screenshot of the original ad and it says "timing belt", truck had 174K on it when I got it.

Can't get in touch with seller. What do you think? It's an interference engine. Last pic shows how "new" the belt really is.

Hopefully no valve piston strike issues, usually not with a belt. If its an issue,change it.

If I had any doubt about when a belt had been changed and had everything open and the kit in hand I would change it and be worry free for a long time. If you button it up without changing the belt you will always have that doubt. It can get real expensive if the belt breaks.

Why not be sure as gamin says and just replace the belt. G.

Limited visible belt wear can be a sign of well-aligned pulleys and idlers. I've opened up the front of my cars at the timing-belt change interval and everything "looked" brand new even though it had 90k miles since the last change. When in doubt, change it.

I'd have to agree with the last comments. It's not a big job and it's not expensive... What's the down side of changing it?

I've replaced original belts on 2UZ-FE engines with over 200K on the clock, and they still looked nearly new. It's hard to check the integrity of the toothed side for weak teeth, or teeth starting to separate from the belt without fully removing it, so I err on the side of caution and replace them, along with the rest of the parts in the kit anyway because of the possibility of teeth being pulled off by the crankshaft cog during cold start up.

Something of an angel-devil shoulder thing, fact is as nice as it looks, I'd always wonder, so I tracked down the original owner on Facebook, left him a message and he called me back an hour ago. Last time he changed this belt was at 90K per the sticker. He went on to say how well he (bought it new) took care of the truck and only used Toyota parts for repair, so while I wouldn't trust that belt to go to PA and back to pick up my rotisserie, it appears to be a testament to the quality of Toyota OEM parts.

So instead of doing the truck, I started in on the driveshaft carrier bearing on the wagon. Much easier job than I remember/anticipated but I still have to get the new bearing on the shaft. Pretty lucky about while your in there stuff, only one bad guibo and I've got one on the shelf.

I have changed in excess of 300 VW TDI timing belts - My experience says they look great until they don't

If you have the kit in hand and don't know for sure when it was changed last or by whom then I would go ahead and change it. Head crashes suck
