New Boat!

Well, new to me at least. After some very frustrating months of boat shopping, I finally found a good one. It's a 2004 Monterey 228si Montura, 200 hrs, 5.0 MPI Mercruiser with a Bravo 3 drive. Factory tower, 3 battery setup, Wet Sounds audio, and a really nice Roadmaster trailer. It's nearly perfect outside, and the inside just needs a good deep clean and it should be mint. I can't wait for summer!

Thanks guys! We bought a small 19' Tahoe a few years ago, with growing kids who want to bring friends, it was time to go bigger. Honestly it has been the best investment in family time that we have ever made.

widgeon, we normally go to a smaller city lake near Winfield, about one hour South. There are several lakes that are slightly closer that tend to be really busy, windy, or both. Last year we also went to Milford and Wilson, both in KS. With our kids getting bigger we are going to venture further away from home this year, MO and OK have some spectacular lakes.

Hey - a fiberglass lined whole in the water in which you throw all of your money!

Seriously though - nice looking boat.

If willing to do your own work, it's pretty reasonable. Pretty much every boat motor is a GM OHV V-6 or V-8, not exactly rocket science. If not bend over, because boat mechanics seem to be more expensive and less honest than auto mechanics. Scary concept.

Yup, I'm looking forward to no more single prop serpentine. Bought it near you at Lake Grapevine BTW, I only made it a few miles North of the George Bush Tollway on I35E before I blew one of the tires that I believed was "good enough". Nice little delay at Carrollton Firestone getting new tires and a spare installed. I'm a moron that should have known better, "good enough" and tires rarely work out well.

Thanks and have fun. I lived in Salina in my youth and seem to remember Kanapolis State Park had a nice lake but I was just a kid and a duck pond would have looked big to me.

I don't know if Kanapolis is any good for boating, I've never been. Milford (near Junction City) is the 2nd biggest lake in KS, and probably the best for boating. Big, lots of coves, reasonably clean. Tuttle Creek is the biggest but filthy dirty and full of stumps, I grew up in Manhattan and went to Tuttle a lot as a kid. I won't be taking my boat there.

Sharp looking rig! Is its forte wake boarding? Being the Ludite that I am I'm still into slalom courses. Still have a Supra ski boat, but have used the stand up jet ski a lot more due to the cost of fuel and the convenience of being able to run with a one man show. However, I'm leaning towards non motorized sport as it somehow gives me more satisfaction of natural physical accomplishment. In addition, the less complicated and bulky the apparatus needed, the more attractive the participation. That said, have a blast and enjoy the wake and playing tug of war with your new beast. If I had a "crew," I'd spend more time behind the ski boat.

Great looking boat Matt! Sure wish I could have bought your Tahoe. You need to come over to Lake of the Ozarks sometime. We are at the 60 mile marker and there is a free public boat ramp not a mile from our cabin.

It's more of a compromise boat. It's an inboard/outboard and doesn't have bladders, so it won't put down the same wake as a hardcore wake/ski boat. On the upside, it also has a usable reverse and the deeper V hull should handle the choppy stuff better. In all honesty we mostly use it for tubing and swimming. I'm hoping my 9 year old will get more interested in learning how to ski and wakeboard this year.

Thanks Kurt, the Tahoe will be back for sale in April or so. We will probably do either Lake of the Ozarks or Table Rock sometime this summer, probably get a cabin or hotel room on the lake and make it a long weekend.

Very nice, Matt.

We spent a lot of time on the water with our kids. We still talk about the time that...

Enjoy.
