How many of us have been "educated and informed" by media culture which doesn't promote dialogue and intelligent debate, but fueling hatred and dissension(and God knows, this was nailed down to a science by Dr. Goebbels to help the rise of his party and the elimination of another race).

Now it's 'them vs us'...and vanquish the individual or party which doesn't validate our version of "truth".

Yes, we sure have come a long way in a very short time.

A fascinating program on PBS several years ago which explored the tone of the political dialog in the US over the centuries.

It's always been very contentious and often outlandish going back to the founding fathers.

Media ain't got much to do with it.

Politicians are just wankers, always have been.

While I agree with this, I'd like to point out that poo laws do not just go away - but stack on top of other poo laws. At some point, sewers gonna blow. It has to. Whether you scoop it out and take the hard way, and get a good result, or it all blows up and you get a dictatorship, is what is important.

A book a famous frenchman is less noted for, from the earth to the moon, gives a pretty good idea of what he thought of US politics. Getting mauled in a political rally for the election of the justice of the peice in around the world in 80 days although perhaps slight satire - wasn't far off either.

Interestingly, I believe it is perfectly legal to not hire or not promote or fire someone because he or she is a Republican, Democrat, Communist, Libertarian, etc. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
