Depends on the car and the significance, IMO. Is it fitting?
For example, mine... http://wolfetone.com/911/geist.jpg |
BTW, I have Early American plates on my car. Early American plates were for cars over 25 years old in Connecticut. They have since been replaced by Classic Vehicle plates.
When I picked them up at the DMV office by pure happenstance, I got a great number. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1371466985.jpg |
My plates:
911RMBR on '83 SC BOXOH2O on '03 Boxster |
A friends daughter had IM BLIND.
Was ammusing |
Here in Florida to run a YOM (year of manufacture) plate you have to have a vanity plate with the same letter/number sequence. I have a never used '65 plate that will be on my 356 when I get it restored... some day.

IF I ever got a personalized plate, it would likely be "I 4GOT" That way, when the Police radio in a 'hot pursuit' if dispatch asks for the plate number, they will be forced to say "I forgot." Yuck yuck yuck.
Also - if I ever got a Smart car, I'd see if I could get "A55" (Smart-A**). Or, with the Smart Electric, "PANTZ" (Smart - e - pants). My co-worker here at Benz once purchased an AMG C43. Since he was also a musician, I urged him to get "C SHARP" since just like C#, the AMG version is an augmented C. He didn't, instead he got "AMGV8" His current car, a W104 (?) S class has "DAS BESTE" on it. ("The best" in German). I think many people ask him, "What is your car such a beast?" A friend of mine had a Dodge Shadow, and he was considering getting "ME N MY" plates. (Me and my Shadow). A Boxster owner friend of mine had "NO SUBS" My favorite P-car related personlized plate. I saw an Acura NSX with "NSX-TASY" In college, my friend had a tiny Ford Fiesta. She was from Boston. Her plate: "TOY CAH" Some are corny, others are clever. I don't think it's worth the money. There are better ways to have cash fly out of my wallet... -Z-man. |
We can't get vanity plates on collectors or hobbyist plates, but always wanted Zoot for the Cobra.

Sorry for the previous upside down photo. I rotated it in my Samsung droid gallery, still upside down. What am I doing wrong?

My screen name is from the plates on my old 911T
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401467124.jpg One of the more clever vanity plates I've ever seen was on a VW Rabbit back in the '70s. It was HRUDUDU...a word taken from a very popular novel of the day called 'Watership Down'. Author Richard Adams even created a unique language for his characters...all of which were rabbits. Hrududu was their word for 'car'. |
If I ever owned a black VW diesel Bug I would see if STNKBUG was available. :D

I had (still have) a CA plate for my 944 that's "CMXLIV" (roman #s). I want to get one that idjut meter maids are likely to screw up like 1II1I11 or O0O00OO.
Saw "AMG LOL" on a heavily modded M3 the other day. ;) |
UNSAFE on my Corvair.

Depends on the car and the message. Seeing a new Kia with "EZ2NV" on the plate isn't cool....

My old 944 (was going to post a pic but apparently deleted all the pics when I sold it)
TROUBEL |
Kinda want laggy for the 930
There is a lotus owner here with wonton or maybe oneton |
My custom plate got me out of a ticket once, the officer liked the book Catch-22.
I think he felt sorry for me, I was very grungy after working on the car all day and was just giving it an extensive (and perhaps vigorous) test drive. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1401484598.jpg |
