I learned how to drive a stick in a VW Beetle the day I bought it.

I learned in a '67 VW Squareback. I have taught many kids to drive stick. Last was my son when he was ~ 14 Find a large empty parking lot on a Sunday afternoon. Patience. It's not really that hard - just laugh a lot and have a good time. I'm going to teach my daughter soon, in my 996. Haha. Actually the 996 is dead simple to learn on - lots of low end torque.
