New family member!
Drove to North Hollywood to pick up my new best friend. He seems like he will be an awesome dog with plenty of smarts. Australian shepherd. Meet Spot.

I had a rescue mixed breed for many years that I named Spots, and ended up just calling her Spot. She was a great dog, like I'm sure yours will be.

I was thinking the same thing. the mom and dad were there. mom is tricolor definitely shepherd, dad is blue, Mom could have been cheating though!

Definitely looks more Aust. cattle dog or blue tick healer (short, stocky and blue). We have an aust. sheppard that is mostly black with the tri-color accents, and loves to round up the goats and chickens back to the barn. Just a really nice, easy going dog I can let out in the morning, and trust that he will be sitting on the porch hours later.

Yo Sandy - CONGRATS on your new double-masked fur child! Great choice!
Hard to say exactly at this juncture how much is shepherd and how much is cattledog but as a point of reference, here is what a pure bred cattledog looks like as a puppy:  Compared to yours there's a lot of similarity! Keep us posted when those ears go up!

He has been really awesome for the short time he has been here. I took him to work with me today and he did really well.
On a funny puppy note, he was eating out of a clear plastic bowl I brought. He could see the food through the side but couldn't get at it, he clumsily barked at the bowl and tipped it over with all of his puppy aggression.
