I can say honestly I have about that much cost or more in gear alone. One amp cost around $600 and the cables were stupid expensive but worth it. Today, everything has gotten much cheaper so its hard to compare. That old school high fi sound is never going to be cheap.

Other thing is this car is something of a quandary. I typically go for lightest weight possible within reason. Pic below is of my 84 Targa with the system I'm reinstalling; towel is covering crossovers mounted on a board. Given I have to make speaker boxes and need to keep this car nice, a sub would only be possible if I found a rear deck I could install the rear speakers in to delete the what I think will be heavy MDF boxes.

20.5 hours of labor, some at $85/hr, some at $95/hr.

A deck, separates and a Multichannel amp? Cust. supplied gear? Dynomat and cables?

You got your HEAD BLOWN OFF.

Typical labor

$45- Deck

Seps- $175-$200. Holes if needed $45 6HRS custom labor? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Amp multichannel $ $150 (?)

They say you coming, big time. They were hi-fiving for sure.

Jeezus christ, the holes are in the doors already if that's an 84. Bayonet mount tweeters- a couple screws and a hole for the wire. There's a million holes in the firewall for 8GA wire. Place amp under seat, it will fit or custom panel with L brackets, particle board, carpet if you want to display but that's not necessary.

You can perforate the panel, saw an opening for the tweeter in the metal skin behind door creating an recess, and hang tweeter with backstrap if you want stealth, but THAT IS NOT 6 hours labor. 2 sets of RCA cables, maybe $60 if the shop is run by a rapist.

Amp wire kit- maybe $50 if they are rapists, has what you need. plant the passive xovers under dash, feed speaker wire along path of existing wire, or plant passives in doors shielded to save running extra wire through jamb (I do that on some cars), run all wires to central location where amp is, plug in.

Follow the marks +/- from amp, to xover box input , output +/- to speakers. Done. No bridging, no nothing. Amp will handle 4 ohms bridged, Run 4 channels, 2 bridged diagram on front (left + RT - to bridge) Gain control requires small jeweler's flathead to gain.

In my entire life I've never seen such beating, that's criminal- even if it did happen to Shaun. I'd raise hell. At that price that amp better be on a linear actuator, with neon, and leather everywhere.

Brilliant amp, I own the 15.2 newer version, and have run ADS forever.

You really should do it yourself, Shaun. That's 2000 dollars you'll save, and it's actually kind of fun.

I did the same thing a couple of years ago; Took a couple of weeks working a couple of hours a day after work....

Almost exactly the same thing you're doing.

Here's the thread, my gear is at post 14.

Thanks Mike, yes, money saved here can go into the 76. I just have too many projects right now and July/first week of August are my busiest weeks of the year. Leaving now for FL to get my grandfather a car and don't have time for that, but here we are. Have a good Independence Day!

Big spoon show in WPB this weekend.... but being from out of state you can't buy and take with you... if you have a transfer FFL up in Boston though you could have stuff shipped to him/her for later transfer...

Thanks Steve, this is an arrive and drive thing, but would have been fun to go. Looking forward to driving back in a hurricane. :)
