I can say honestly I have about that much cost or more in gear alone. One amp cost around $600 and the cables were stupid expensive but worth it. Today, everything has gotten much cheaper so its hard to compare. That old school high fi sound is never going to be cheap.

You got your HEAD BLOWN OFF. Typical labor $45- Deck Seps- $175-$200. Holes if needed $45 6HRS custom labor? HAHAHAHAHAHA! Amp multichannel $ $150 (?) They say you coming, big time. They were hi-fiving for sure. rjp |

You can perforate the panel, saw an opening for the tweeter in the metal skin behind door creating an recess, and hang tweeter with backstrap if you want stealth, but THAT IS NOT 6 hours labor. 2 sets of RCA cables, maybe $60 if the shop is run by a rapist. Amp wire kit- maybe $50 if they are rapists, has what you need. plant the passive xovers under dash, feed speaker wire along path of existing wire, or plant passives in doors shielded to save running extra wire through jamb (I do that on some cars), run all wires to central location where amp is, plug in. Follow the marks +/- from amp, to xover box input , output +/- to speakers. Done. No bridging, no nothing. Amp will handle 4 ohms bridged, Run 4 channels, 2 bridged diagram on front (left + RT - to bridge) Gain control requires small jeweler's flathead to gain. In my entire life I've never seen such beating, that's criminal- even if it did happen to Shaun. I'd raise hell. At that price that amp better be on a linear actuator, with neon, and leather everywhere. Brilliant amp, I own the 15.2 newer version, and have run ADS forever. rjp |
You really should do it yourself, Shaun. That's 2000 dollars you'll save, and it's actually kind of fun.
I did the same thing a couple of years ago; Took a couple of weeks working a couple of hours a day after work.... Almost exactly the same thing you're doing. Here's the thread, my gear is at post 14. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/771833-front-speaker-question-87-carrera.html |

Thanks Steve, this is an arrive and drive thing, but would have been fun to go. Looking forward to driving back in a hurricane. :)
