Lots of good stuff here already-Brokedown Palace is my first, Keep Heart in Your Heart is another, but I'd also like Forever Young....

So, Play "Dead Man" by Neil Young at the funeral, but start the wake off with "Monkey Man" by the Stones and get that party rockin! The booze is free, cuz Mike is buyin! |
Rock the house down with ten yrs after and the lead song would be " a space in time"
Party till the weee hours cuz the people that really know me will know that I am partying hard up there. |

Let me restate. I used Wake as a euphemism. What I really meant, when you have gone to the great gig in the sky and your buds are hanging (family too). What is that one song, ok maybe two or three, that you leave them with? There are some really great ideas here. I am thinking of a compilation. Into the Mystic |

+1 for bag pipes.

Never really thought about it...
To me, death is just a part of life. Once I'm gone, I really don't care what my family does at the wake/funeral (personally, I just wanna be burned and tossed in the ocean). Whatever makes them feel good, I suppose. |
I'm gonna request an awkward silence.

I suppose "Life by the drop" or "Tick tock" by SRV wouldn't suck. Ironical... I usual don't listen to rock radio because of the excessive commercials... however I was out running some errands and decided to pump some tunes... and this came on: I am still living with your ghost lonely and dreaming of the west coast i dont want to be your down time i dont want to be your stupid game with my big black boots and an old suitcase i do belive ill find myself a new place i dont want to be tha bad guy i dont want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore i just want to see some palm trees i will try to shake away this disease we can live beside the ocean linger far behind swim out past the breaker watch the world die x2 i am still dreaming of your face hungry and hollow from the pain you took away i dont want to be your good time i dont want to be your fallback crutch anymore walk right up you brand new day your same horizon in my own wearedway i dont want to be tha bad guy i dont want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore i just want to feel some downside i just want to find some place to be alone we can live beside the ocean linger far behind swim out past the breaker watch the world die x4 oh! yeah, watch the world die yeah, yeah watch the world die wooah, yeah, watch the world die yeah watch the world die |
No wake for me. Just a pig roast with karaoke. Seriously.

Threadsurrection!
Friend of my has Cycstic Fibrosis. She recently posted this video on Facebook. She's in her mid 30s... about the average life expectancy for someone with CF. I'm thinking this song is going to make it on a lot of funeral playlists. I loved my wife from the moment she took a look at me and said something sarcastic, which I returned with gusto.
I am still in love, always will be. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3ZSZs8w4jhI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
