Oh Haha 06-13-2014 03:38 PM

I knew you guys would understand. We have a lot of things going on right now with the implantation of an entirely new operating system as well planning a move to a new building.......at the same time!!

Being that I am the local manager it will fall on me to make it go smooth..

I am actually considering resigning to stay home with the kids. While subtracting my salary from the household income would make us tighten our belts we could manage. We don't live "high on the hog" as my dad would say.

Of course, I COULDN'T quit in the middle of such a huge undertaking so we are thinking that maybe in the fall it could be a reality.

I'm 47, by the way so not close to retirement age.

Oh, all the stuff I was worried would go wrong while I was out yesterday, didn't.
Just goes to show, I need to work on not worrying so much about it.

I have found HUGE relief in my hobbies. I run a small business and used to work an insane amount, literally until 1 or 2AM some nights, and also at least part of the weekend. I traveled over 100K miles some years too. I'd have dreams and nightmares about work. I was not a happy camper - sleep deprived, grumpy, overweight, high cholesterol, drinking too much...

Now I have an awesome wife and two awesome kids as well as passion for music/guitar, cars (duh), photography...no friggen time to stress about work! Most nights when I get home now, I try to put-in an hour or so on the guitar, then hang-out with the family and get a solid 6-7 hours sleep. I am still committed to the business but now try much harder to hire others to do anything that I do not need (not want...need) to personally do myself. The same goes for personal/household tasks - I do certain things myself that I enjoy but mundane chores and most repairs get farmed-out now as they'd just suck time and add stress.

I am always up at 1or 2am. call me sometimes so we can chit chat. When I am beat and can't think anymore, I click on off topic and see what's going on with this bunch. Notice that I usually post at those hours half asleep and tired.
