Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap

Nearly out of my puck with good shaving out of it.

Any other recommendations?

Blades, I've been loving Merkur's, comfy and close, and sometimes Feather, a little sharper, have to be more careful. Anything else good?

I like the Persona red blades.

Been using the same tub of DR Harris soap for almost a year now.

You MUST try the Synergy Shaving Soaps from How To Grow A Moustache - A Guide To Facial Awareness & Lifestyle . After having tried many other soaps, this is among the best I've ever tried!! Best of all, you can get them quickly and easily from Amazon, or order direct from their website. The also sell razor, moustache wax, shaving oil, etc. Everything you need. It is now my one-stop-shop for moustache, beard and shaving needs.

I think Bay Rum synergy soap is the best!

Been using shave cream from Bigelow for years and really like it. Just ordered a kit from Harry's the other day of cream and razor and we'll see about that.

Will advise :)

Got away from a brush years ago, never could get the thickness of material with one . Always seemed to be less lubricated shaving with soap/brush as opposed to cream

I actually over bought when I started and still have a bunch of soap/blades to go through before I rebuy, Mitchell's soap and feather blades are next for me.

I do like (and will rebuy) some of this:

Amazon.com : Pre de Provence Men's Shave Soap in Tin, 5.25 Ounce : Bath Soaps : Beauty

I have this in tobacco and the company make a nice product:

And love, love, love this stuff!

On blades, if you are still trying to find "the blade" then go to west coast shaving and look at their assortments. You can try several for not a lot of money

Dial and a Gillette disposable...sorry guys, I'm a gutter tramp!

Aggie93 06-20-2014 07:32 AM

Sorry, no recommendations. That is all I use now. Mitchell's and Feathers. I asked a while back for something else, tried one of them, back to Mitchell's.

Took Hydrocket's advice and got a puck of Synergy in cavendish which is a pipe tobacco scent. I like it a lot but the Mitchell's wins on scent.

the huge puck is nice, should last forever, it lathers up well on my face and is slicker than the Mitchell's. Gives a closer shave.

Good recommendation, thank you!

You guys aren't using one of these?

I stopped shaving with a blade years ago.

I know....different "strokes".... :)

Ya... I don't like paying good money for a crappy shave/pulling of my facial hair.

porsche4life 07-01-2014 05:59 PM

Timely revival. I was looming at the synergy soaps tonight. Looking to get a soap stick for traveling, just trying to find which one I want

Ben using this C.O. Bigelow Premium Shave Cream - Shaving - Men for quite a few years now.

Taylor of Old Bond Street here... I like the Lemon-Like in the summer, but any of the scents are nice. I also use Personna Red Blades in a Merkur 89c

Nivea Sensitive Balm and witch hazel.

kach22i 07-02-2014 06:49 AM

Tabac cream purchased from a local shop (not the link below) was world's better than the Proraso paste I had been using.

Tabac Shaving Cream forms a mild, creamy lather

Funny thing is a guy at the cigar lounge who turned me on to using witch hazel after shaving was rating about Mike's soap made in Ann Arbor, now wants to try a new soap he's heard about.

I guess no matter how good something is, there will be a segment always wanting just that little bit more.

This is so much like car wax.

I had a patient that makes soap as a hobby and gave me some. Best shaving soap I have ever used, by a large margin. Because it is actually soap and not a detergent, according to her.
