Saw that on BAT--definately a nice rig.

Awesome, but $30k?! That's nice FJ40 territory. I'll take a $10k FZJ80 and $20k in mods please.

I was getting 10 city 12 hwy with mine before I gave it to my brother. He commutes 5 mi to work so it's no biggie for him. But if he travels to Oregon (he's in Boise) he always rents a car. I'd love to get one with the Spector diesel conversion. Marv Spector has one that he says he's getting 18-20 mi/gal and pulling the Grapevine at 75-80 mph.

Mywife told me there's a FJ40 in Torrance, a diesel imported from Australian. its been sitting in the driveway with a for sale sign on it. According to her friend, who lives across the street, an old couple lives there and it doesn't move much out of the driveway. I might go look at it on my next visit later this month. If I don't buy it , I wonder any of you folks are interested?
Oh, I get 12 on my 80, 13 with a tail wind going downhill. Going over the grapevine9 coming up from the desert) fully loaded out of overdrive, I can cruise 75 easily. |

I get average of 10 MPG, and it takes a weee bit of time to get "up to speed", however, once velocity is attained, it does drive quite nicely. Sure beats the heck out of my previous RR Classic.

That's a great looking LX450. I still periodically look for an 80, it's one of the few cars I really regret selling. I'll have another someday soon.

I've always been more of an FJ40,45,55,60,62 guy, but saw an 80 lifted with ARB bumpers that was done perfect. Had a friend who rolled his 60 and ended up getting an 80. He appreciated the higher (but not too high) level of comfort the 80 had over the 60.
I'd seriously look at them except for the first year which still had the 3FE (?).

Yeah, that's a nice looking rig, Mike. FJ80s respond really well visually to that sort of mild lift/off-road tires/racks/etc. treatment. Just saw one like it, I approve.

Actually the 3FE is a great motor, no head gasket issues and they run forever. Even better if you remove the cobbled together smog system. Just don't get in a big hurry.

As for the rig on ebay, it might be worth a fortune to someone because it's an almost new FJ62 but it's completely unnecessary IMO because a great used one is $8k in SoCal with no rust and they last forever. I also prefer them clean but with a "broken in" look, like a perfect pair of jeans.
