Just happens that I was on Okinawa in 1971 when a typhoon went thru. Most of the buildings on the military bases are built to withstand storms like this so his safety should not be an issue. The fun part for me was leaving the island on an LST one day after the storm in 30 - 40 foot seas! At the top of a crest you could see forever but at the bottom of a trough the water was well over our heads.

That silly little Arthur thing that blew through yesterday is barely a blip compared to that monster!

Stay safe all.

I was in Okinawa in 1990-1991 while in the Marines. I was on the typhoon team my second year. They get a lot of them in season. There was a lot of wind and rain, but everybody stayed safe, and damage was usually pretty minimal.

Best wishes for your son and the rest of the folks in Okinawa. It sounds like the Navy has prepared for those storm conditions. Go Navy!
