Colorado is such a great and beautiful state. I go through Denver on a semi-regular basis and have a cousin plus a childhood friend there, somehow I've never figured out Denver in terms of getting much of a vibe from it. Old friend lives in Lakewood which is kind of dull with suburban type malls along Colfax and some good auto shops. Not a bad place but dull.

My cousin lives in Stapleton which is the best tract housing planned community I've ever seen. I've actually never seen another I liked, I generally abhor them but this one is really nice and they made the streets and houses look like early 20th century America. Amazing.

I've always been sure that there has to be a hip part of Denver that I'm just not aware of. That new airport is about 100 miles away...crazy.

No matter how one feels about the city, it's on the foothills of the most awesome mountain range in the USA and they just scream at you to come and ski and play.

I love Colorado and always felt is was the most beautiful of all the states - debatable for sure and no disrespect meant for other states (California would also be right up there).

What can you tell me about the five points area? Still to gentrified?

Five points is cool; but it's definitely in the city. Meaning: weird noises, homeless folks, don't leave anything in your car, get a great bike lock kind of stuff. Not really dangerous per se, just kind of 'don't be a dumbass' kind of neighborhood.

It's getting more 'gentrified' every day as the money moves east from the River North neighborhood.

You can look at the River North neighborhood also, it's a good example of what Five Points will be like in 5-10 years.

Both these neighborhoods are somewhat adjacent to the Uptown neighborhood I spoke of earlier, but a lot more like a neighborhood that was a total craphole 10 years ago.


Still, if you want to live that close to downtown I think you need to hang out in LoHi for a day or two.

Or, if you want to be closer to Arvada, look at Sunnyside or Berkeley, Both are slightly cheaper versions of Highlands and LoHi, closer to I-70 and closer to Arvada, which you are already familiar with I guess.

Tom, you will need to learn to shovel snow. I suspect you have little practice shoveling snow in Houston. Buy a couple of good snow shovels! :)
