This isn't a thread. And it definitely not an anti-Corvette thread.
So when someone goes on and on and, Blab, blab, ba, ba, blas, about their 350hp Porsche beating a Corvette, I get really disgusted with this forum and I stop reading. That's Democracy! And use of one's brain.
Porsches aren't about beating Corvettes! Stupid! Corvettes are now, great cars, so what is the issue? I'm a Porsche guy and I don't care about beating Corvettes, some I can out run, some I can't, just like I can't beat Dick Cheney in an as--ho-l-e race, he's got it hands down. Porsches are about driving. Every time you look around, for the rest of your life, there will be someone faster, smarter and wealthier than you are. So please, let's stop the bull**it, and the who's got the biggest "Dick" contest on this site. |
Sometimes, I get really discussed too..........
|
*disgusted
Anyone claiming to beat new vettes are fibbing or the driver didn't know they were racing. |
I quit reading that thread too. Not very bright racing on the street. I had three Corvettes, two of them new and one with 10k miles. All were very reliable and held their value well. I like my 991 and 911 a lot, but I still like the Corvette.

Disguising

I beat a corvette with a Fiat back in the 70's...... bet that corvette driver was discussed too....
|
Now children
Behave!!!!! :D:D;);)
It was nice meeting you all! |
...to off topic...

That's what ignore lists are for.

I once Discussed........once.
1973 911 T MFI Coupe, Aubergine Steve |
I hear that Ronnie was discussed once. Then got banned for a month. [shakes head]

What's a Corvette?
|
I know how that Corvette drivers feels. I get 'beaten' by people out of the lights every day of the week.
Street races where only one person is racing are really the best kind. They should televise them! |

Someone suck seed ed in their goal.
And it wasn't to beat a Corvette. Time to go out in the garage and tinker. Back away from the keyboard... |

Should be in parf. Comment about Cheney is off limits in this forum. Go rant in parf.

My '71 Corvette will destroy my Porsche in acceleration, probably yours too. Carter |

What's with Corvette owners anyways? We have had a few big car show locations shut down because the Corvette guys when exiting the show would spin their wheels, make a lot of noise, disturb the neighbors and get chased by the cops........no one else but Vette owners!!!!!!!
So what's the deal? Back in the muscle car era we always equated a Corvette owner with a small phallus...........the horsepower had to make made up for it. Crazy huh? No one else I know who collectively owned one particular brand of high end sports car shared this reputation (compliments of the 1960's' by the way). A longtime Porsche owner and occasional Corvette eater. |

I think closing that tread was an attempt to head-off pending critique and criticism. Sort of running away if you will. Obviously with the start of this thread that move was for not. The line drawn in this forum is when people brag about aggressive driving or so-called street racing. Quote:

Was weed involved in the creation of this thread?

The most amazing was one of the new Cadillacs. I happened to approach the light as it turned green after the left turn lane light was done. The Caddy saw me rolling into the intersection with a 30 MPH head start. That thing darn near exploded off the line and vanished in a flash. I lost again, but I could not possibly care less. I have never in my life "street raced" and I have no intention of trying. I did have a blast driving Laguna Seca at full speed a few weeks ago. My 911 did just great on track at the DE. |

Every time I'm in my Porsche, there is somebody that feels that it's a race. Because I like to be easy on 1st gear, I'm always slow off the line. Always. Almost like it's on purpose. :)
Besides, I prefer to have the road ragers and reckless drivers where I can see what they are doing. Then I can avoid them. |

Lots of strokes for folks. Once you venture out your front door you may see and experience all manner of things you may not appreciate. Some things you can't control. If you click on a thread with content that bothers you just don't click on it anymore. That's completely in your control. Pretty simple. |
Who cares? The human factor makes this a fuzzy discussion. It assumes drivers of each car has the same driving ability. We don't.
I once whipped around a vette on track. I was barely done patting myself on the back when a different vette pushed up on my ass. I had to let him by. Street races ? I've often wondered how many idiots think they crushed my 911. I never raced them. They go screaming away. Sent via Jedi mind trick. |
Neither one can hold a candle to that absolute pinnacle of automotive excellence - the Bullit Mustang.

Then I grew up. There was a very specific incident that contributed to it. Let's just say if I did not know my car as well as I did and had I hesitated even a fraction of a second I have little doubt that myself and my buddy Kurt who was with me would both be dead. The problem with it is not necessarily one's self. You have no idea of your "opponents" abilities. Way too many people with money who can afford cars that they are completely incapable of operating at any where near the cars capabilities. If they buy it due to their lack of skill and you are involved you are royally and completely ****ed. It's just not worth it. |

Personally I'm no longer willing to trade my financial security and freedom for a lawsuit and pinstripes on the chance that the other guy knows how to drive. YMMV. |
