Value of porsche 912 engine?

Guys,

I have a very nice 912 engine that was purchased out of a wrecked 912 in 1969 and the guy put it in his kit car for the 70's and it traveled a few thousand miles (and a rattle can black paint job)and sat pickled since 1979 when he sold the car. he then changed the oil, squireted oil down the cylinders and turned it over by hand once a month until I purchased in January when I started cleaning it up and trying to remove the black spray paint while preserving as much of the originality as possible. I plan to start it up in the next few weeks and take a video of it running and post it for sale.

What is the true value of this engine? I removed all the tine and san blasted it and repainted and cleaned any debris out of it and now it looks pretty good. I will post pictures of it soon. But looking for a realistic value..

Thanks

You should ask your question here: 912 BBS

They're in touch with the market more so than Pelican is when it comes to 912's.

Does it have the original Solex carbs? That makes a difference. I know of one that's been rebuilt by a name guy around town here that's unofficially for sale, I think he wants 5k for it. So yours is probably worth a little less.

Good motors, though.

If it has Solexes without worn throttle shafts it's worth at least 5k.

Here are some pictures. carbs are in very nice shape though having the rattle can black on them.. the throttle shafts are tight the way they should be.. getting closer to putting it up for auction

I have some Solexes in great condition I'm hanging onto as an investment. Two pair I believe with their filters and intake manifolds.

I also have a numbers matching 356 engine case complete with crank, rods, bearings, etc. newly rebuilt - going to hang onto for a while.
