This looks fantastic.
Tell us more about how you did this project and where you got the materials. I want to cover the wood -er- plastic wood trim in the wife's Ford Edge to a carbon fiber look or slate grey-black. I was thinking of a wrap but have never played with the stuff. |
Adorable little man btw. :)

thanks brother..... my son is a fun lil dude. as far as the project...... the main thing is to take your time! i did mine over the course of a few days.... it can get VERY frustrating when it seems so freaking simple to do. but the angles, curves and real estate to cover can be a bit daunting. you will see/understand once to try and lay the stuff down. it is however VERY forgiving, you CAN pull it off and re-apply with little consequences. you cant mess up TOO much because the product DOES stretch and has a breaking point. over trial and error (mostly error) the trick is to have plenty material hang over the edges so the material can lay as FLAT as possible when applying it. THEN.... work the angles and curves slowly, the material will do most of the work for you if you let it and dont rush it. use a VERY sharp knife or a razor... it is a must. i used a thick PAPER template to get the GENERAL shape of the piece. give yourself plenty of material towards the edges, you will thank me later on this. use a heat gun or hairdryer on the edges and corners, LET the material do the work for you on these areas..its happy to if you let it. i got the material here: its inexpensive and user friendly........ please let me know if you have any questions..... |
Hi where did you get the 3 M wrap? Thanks
