New Old Spoon
Just picked up this 1968 Ruger Single Six 22/22mag.
What is Doug Turnbull charging for color case hardening? He's about 30 minutes from me. ![]()

Great little guns, congratulations. A three screw to boot - very nice.
Case hardening the frame will be at least a couple hundred bucks. That's if you send just the frame, completely stripped and polished, ready to pack and throw in the oven. The more you make him do, like disassembling the gun, stripping the blueing, and polishing it, the more you pay. It goes up very, very fast - it's all touch time at a pretty stiff hourly rate. I have a handful of guns that he has case colored. I run hot and cold on them. The colors are certainly vibrant - more vibrant than is correct for the piece, however. Sometimes I like just the understated, mostly straw and gray, with a touch of blue and purple, that Colt used to have before they handed it over to Turnbull. That, and the colors found on Shilo and C. Sharps rifles - much more understated. Some of his stuff, to me anyway, borders on gaudy. Just showing off, with little regard for aesthetics. But that's just me.
