..and a Q5 is just a heavier glorified version of a Tiguan. :)

Moi aussi... As soon as the lease start to returns.

I rode in one (turbo) on the Calabogie race track (where I did a DE with the 911). Pretty impressive as it was driven by the Pace Car driver for the GT Porsche Cup Challenge.

But as mentioned below (or above depending of your setting) I have not seen one on the road yet!!!

Update: I saw one Thursday which I believe makes 3 sightings total. I was at the dealer yesterday but forgot to check if they have any.

I saw three in one day last weekend, I was under the impression that they just landed last week. One was at a lunch party on Sunday and the young lady said that it was either the first one or very close, her dad is pretty well-connected w/ Porsche. It was an S and looked better in person than photos, IMO. http://lifehealthus.com/image/images/112.gif

Not sure -- the whole gist of this thread was that they supposedly hit the streets 6 months ago but numbers seemed very low.

I've seen several since this thread came out, but then the part of town that I live in now seems to have lots of Porsches running around. Most of what I'm seeing is Cayenne, but that only makes sense. They look like they would be a decent little SUV. But they don't really look like they provide that much space unless you fold the back seats down. If you actually want some space to carry much stuff, you should probably stick with a cayenne.

My first and only sighting was in St Petersburg, Russia. Just another small SUV. Meh.

Flieger 10-18-2014 11:57 AM

I've seen a couple, but I am so not interested in SUV's that I can't be bothered to tell them apart from the new Cayenne- they look so similar. So I've probably seen a lot more Macans but just thought they were peppers.

They failed the moose test. I'm not impressed. Another small SUV that rolls over. At astronomical prices. In a few years there will be plenty at Carmax for $40K or less.

Interesting. Thanks for the post.

Looks like a software choice; with a telemetry control balance set for the typical driver (soccer mom?) who isn't going to try to slalom around a moose at 40-something mph (and control the otherwise ensuing oversteer). I suspect that turning off the PSM will quickly turn off that telemetry control nanny.

Isn't the PSM in all Porsches set so that when the ABS kicks in, the PSM comes back on automatically? I thought Porsches were one of those makes where you can never completely disable that stuff.

I would expect that the telemetry control does likely ramp-up when the ABS is engaged.

Who cares? Like the world really needs another SUV...

Autocrossed a Macan Turbo today at the Porsche World Tour event. Pretty fun really, though didn't feel like it should be worth twice what a Tiguan costs. Based on what the ECU flash on the Tiguan did though, I bet with a flash it'd be quite a kick. Needed slightly stiffer suspension too.

Also, one great thing about the Tiguan and other SUVs of the size is the sliding back seats, which we make big use of, and the Macan doesn't have those for some reason. Very helpful for room for the dog/hauling stuff.

Autocrossing the Panamera GTS on the other hand, was much more fun than I would have expected. Sounds great, and drives very predictably and solid, handles like something much smaller.
