Guardians of the Galaxy-Movie

Saw a cast and crew screening of it today. Entertaining, but almost too much visual effects for my taste.

Brother said something similar. Still, he called it big dumb fun.

Ya gotta think tho that making that movie would have been less pressure than Avengers. If that had been messed up, every fanboy would have been calling for Whedon's head. This one they could take some liberties with and have a little fun.

I'll take the kids to see it this weekend.

Guardians movie

Lots of fun, lots of action! Loved the raccoon, especially when he went Rambo!

We enjoyed it.

Not a blockbuster, but a decent cartoonish space flick.

I was a Star Lord fan - have issue #1, the character wasn't what I expected but I'll catch it in a hotel room some night instead of getting drunk...

It's a fun movie. They did a good setup for sequels...

Based on the box office, I would say it's most definitely a blockbuster.

Saw it Tuesday with my 10 y/o. She really enjoyed it but it is the equivalent of cotton candy. Empty calories.

It was good. My boys dragged me to it and Captain America. It's been fun reliving the comic books I read when I was a kid as movies. My standard for whether a movie is good is whether I like it when I see it and whether I think about it for a few days after I see it.

Interestingly, I first thought that Captain America was a better movie - there seemed to be more to it as I was watching it - but when CA was done, I hardly thought about it again. For some reason Guardians of the Galaxy stuck with me and I thought about it several times over the next few days. I think that means it was a pretty good movie.

Did you expect Shakespeare or Saving Private Ryan?

It is supposed to be just a couple of hours of fun and some laughs. It was not meant to have a deep meaning or change the world.

I much prefer to walk out of a movie and think that was fun, not be depressed, thoughtful and mad like after Schindler's List. Schindler's List is a great movie and I am glad it was made, but I don't want to sit through it again.

Certainly not expecting Shakespearean drama, the trailer with a talking raccoon kinda gives that away.

I think MRM and I have a similar criteria in judging the quality of a movie. Did it make me think about the movie after having seen it. In the case of G of the G it didn't happen. I could scarcely come up with a discussion topic with daughter on the drive home.

"I am Groot" was the only thing that stuck with me.

The wife and I really enjoyed it. Loads of comedic value around a good story.

Just got back from seeing it with my daughter. Pretty fun stuff. Will need to see it again to make sure I caught all of the jokes.

Didn't realize that Merle Dixon and Amy Pond were in the cast!
