another one who left - RIP Milo
I hate these threads. My cat Milo is near the end of his run. Age unknown - at least 15 as I adopted him as an adult back in '00 but probably 17 or 18. The last year + has been rough on everyone - lots of lost weight, lost sleep and cleaning up messes. This morning he was really struggling - rear legs not working well, very dehydrated. Drank a bunch of water, hid behind the toilet, threw up (clear), then later this afternoon/evening got some more water in him but he can't walk well. Have a vet coming tomorrow but probably will be the last goodbye.
I hate this part... |
sorry, man. this sucks.
|
Hated it when I had to put mine down at a couple of months past 20. However I could see she was within hours of dying. That was confirmed by the vet after he put her to sleep. I haven't gotten another pet since, & that was back in '07.

Sad indeed.

Toby says "A big thanks for looking after Milo all that time and making life fun."
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1407565864.jpg He was an ex-wildcat who was down on his luck, probably had about a week left but he decided I looked a good bet and moved in. We have been best buddies for the last six years. He won't live forever (FIV) but has a great time while he's around. 17 or 18 is not bad going, especially for an opted cat, well done. |
Yes that is the hardest part about having a pet is the final goodbye. Sorry to hear about your cat. G.

Sorry to hear NS. It is never easy.

:(
VERY sorry to hear this but you have to do right by the little fella....it's hard but he's had a long run so take some solace in that, Todd. Thoughts and prayers to you and yours. RIP little Milo. Sleep well. |

I know your pain and I'm sorry to hear. It's awful and the feelings of helplessness and self-doubt are the worst. All the best and I hope things work out well and don't drag out. All the best.

BTDT, so sorry Todd :(

The level of coolness resident in a great cat cannot be fully understood by mere humans, although I am sure Milo tried
Rest easy, big boy. |
bummer.
last night, while i was chasing "fergie" around last night with a screaming rat in her jaws..i was wishing for this day.. today? we're good. man, you should have heard the cursing as i was clorox cleaning up the trail of dripping blood. |
sorry to hear this T...
remembering my Merlin right now... he was.. as they say.. one cool cat.. Rika |
I am sure Milo has had a good run. Sorry to hear about his struggle.

Vet came this morning. Before that I spent some quality time next to him on the floor. He could barely walk and couldn't keep his tongue in his mouth. Vet was great and it was a very peaceful event. God speed Milo.

Sad times all right.
When it is time for them to go, it's time to call the vet and we are preparing for that event. Our 15 YO female cat had a major stroke a couple of months ago and has recovered more than we ever expected but we know that it is just a matter of time til she is in the same boat as Milo health wise. Damn cats, one can get really attached to them. |
We with harts do what we can, and we can only do so much.
The guilt words should, could would, need not be applied. You both gave each other warm times. sorry man |
Thanks for doing the right thing, Todd. Milo was indeed a cool customer (as all our kiddles are) and a great companion - who shall be sorely missed.
And for sharing - I don't know if I could do that - my heart is hit so hard - it's hard to even share stuff like this for want of the right words to use. There really aren't any. Peace to you and yours brother. |
Godspeed kitty, and condolences to the OP.
He had a long and good life. Nothing more that anyone could wish for. |
