Yes, every two years.  there are also the 'drive-by' roadside things.  If you drive by one and pass then it's noted on your registration and you can bypass the brick-and-mortar emissions facility.

There's no additional requirement if you receive this letter.  Sure, you have to take your biannual emissions test just like you would anyway.  This thing is just a waste of everyone's time.
 
Especially since the car isn't smoking!  It's probably the cleanest exhaust vehicle I have.  The SC is pretty good though. |
