Remember the Afluenza kid?

One of the things he claimed was "lack of parenting"

Seems he may have had a valid defense.

What a wonderful family that must be.

Here's the weird thing, here's the google maps street level view of the 4400 block of Mackey Drive which is where this event occurred. Doesn't look too "affluent" to me. The whole story is odd.

Did some reading, his Fred owns a steel company that is estimated at 15mill a year? With 30 employes? Likely the guy isn't making just bundles and bundles of money. Which means he and the kid are just low life wastes of oxygen...

The father has money.

His two residential properties.

Think one is the Mom's, they are separated.

He leaves four people dead and one passenger in his truck is maimed / near dead, and the kid walks free. Crazy.

Update. Looks like he's going to jail.

The PO was going to test him after the video was made known, but he never showed for his required meeting, thus the bench warrant. Doubt this missed meeting was a coincidence. Wouldn't, surprise me if the parents moved him out of the country.

They got the little ****er.

Puerto Vallarta.

They should give him 10 years in a Mexican prison before extraditing his ass.

regardless of the defense, a first time offender with a clean record would get probation for negligent manslaughter? ?

I thought the judge's reasoning was something like they'd only be able to jail him until he turned 21, but, if given probation, then getting violated would get him the full 10 yrs. and there was a better chance of that happening. Looks like the judge was right and kid will be spending far more time in jail than had he originally been sentenced to jail. You know the next judge and jury will have no sympathy at all on this doosh.

"Affluenza". I had to look that up.

As a defense I don't buy it. Most people with trust funds are decent human beings.

But this guy is something else again. He reminds me of the criminal character in the more recent "Shaft" movie. (Christian Bale as Walter Wade, Jr.)

The only positive thing I could say is that he's young and at some point he may feel truly regretful for what he has done.

He will only regret that he was caught and had to face justice. He thinks he is above the law. His thinking was wrong, finally.

I REALLY hope they throw the book at his mom for conspiracy to avoid prosecution and any other charges they can think up. SHe needs to do hard time. And look HARD for evidence of his low life dad helping in the scheme. Throw em all in prison.
