World Trade Center visit...

We are in CT having dropped our son off at school.

On our way home, we pass through NY. My wife wants to visit the World Trade Center tomorrow.

What's the best way? Do we drive in, get as close as we can, park and either walk or take a taxi to it?

Thoughts?

I think if it's on the weekend you can drive and find parking nearby.

Pretty much... you will probably be able to park quite close, may take a few laps of the area to find a legal spot opening up...read the signs carefully.. NYC has swarms of enforcement agents in lower Manhattan.

Or just pony up and pay a garage.. that wont be cheap though..

Just walk. Lower Manhattan is very walkable, its really a pretty small amount of real estate. If you have a smart phone, Google maps is your friend.

Financial district. Few attractions down there but otherwise a ghost town on weekends, at least by NYC standards.

You could also park higher up and simply take the subway.

Used google maps to get us there, then searched for a parking garage. Found one a block away for $20.

I found the memorial lacking a wow factor. I was more interested in actual items left over and it just wasn't there.

We did meet a survivor who acts as a guide. He jad a great story to tell.

I'm sorry, but it's said that you feel like that.

I think it's a very exceptional memorial site that will affect a third party. Just my opinion. The Vietnam vets memorial seems to be one of those.

Unfortunately, my other opinion is that the best memorial would've been 2 skyscrapers with strobe lights on them, no less than 106 stories high, with speakers blaring "America, F*** Yeah" 24 hours a day, instead of two gaping emotion-gash pools in the ground.

Absolutely. Maybe in the shape of two middle fingers.
