jyl 09-08-2014 12:31 PM

Wow. Hope everyone is okay.

Does a rain like this get captured and recharge groundwater? Is there a silver lining?

island911 09-08-2014 12:45 PM

I was surprised to learn that the Phoenix area has a lot of underground water.

more now ;)

I'm in Germany now and just saw all this while reading the news on my phone at dinner. Mrs. Lee texted me and said it wasn't that bad, though the flowers I had ordered to be delivered to her office for her b-day did not make it because of the closed roads.

Yeah, not too bad here either. Although that was one heck of a rainstorm. I think that fills the quota for the 100 year flood, so we should be good for a while, lol... (knocking on something that floats).

Unfortunately all of our roads must have been designed on our 330 days of sunshine.

Here in the southeast "Valley of the Sun" it was pretty bad. Fortunately we elected not to flood irrigate last weekend, so basically all that happened was that our lawn got a free watering.

Others did not fare so well.

Search around, some of the footage is pretty ... interesting.

I saw that picture on one of the news web sites! I wouldn't have driven my Mazda through that!
