Bunch of quiters....

If you don't want one, don't buy one, it's magically that revolutionary :D

As we are in the Mobile space I think I'll get one for each of the staff as it's great marketing to get people interested in mobile capabilities.

Dunno. Kinda cool but on the other hand I carry my phone all the time so why do I need this? I also don't wear a watch for largely the same reason - with my phone I eliminate the need for a watch and a wallet, pretty soon car keys too (looking at installing a remote start app). The less junk I have to schlep around the better.

I want to like it but my gut feeling is it doesn't really do anything new, it's too big / thick and the battery life isn't good enough.

We really need a quantum breakthrough in energy storage technology. Chemical batteries are really holding back things at this point (vehicles, computers, etc.)

Fair enough, P-O-P. But it offers a lot of the utility of your phone right on your wrist. You won't even have to pull your phone out of your pocket/purse/murse. And there are a couple of fitness features that the phone, alone, won't perform. Plus, like watches have become, it's a piece of jewelry.

Now, if they could only incorporate some sort of system to harness your movement into recharging the battery (like in an automatic watch?)--that would be something.

porsche4life 09-11-2014 11:30 PM

I don't think it will connect to your flip phone though doc.

This in bold. The phones can stay in your pocket so getting the biggest iPhone 6 starts to make a lot of sense.

The green comments actually make a lot of sense as well. Someone will probably invent something that also goes on your wrist that plugs into the watch and keeps it charged.
A dedicated inertia charger? Something similar in shape and style but smaller.

I don't mean like the Predator wrist "thingamajig"

Years ago when I bought my Rolex the intent was for it to be my last and only watch, it will stay that way. It does everything I want and I couldn't be more pleased.

LOL. Last night Kai separated the two halves of my phone, so now I'm trying to hold out until next Friday.

this watch is a man shackle.

Funny, that's why I want to get one for my wife, the woman who puts her phone on silent and then buries it in the bottom of her purse.

Funny that if you ask (almost) anyone under 40 what time it is they grab for their phone.

Like you I have a few well made watches that I wear, I don't wear jewelry other wise (except for my wedding band).
