The Tans in Kauai now whats to do here?

First time on Kauai with the family, also first time trying the condo thing.

Any suggestions on what to do on this island with a pregnant wife and 2 boys (6&8)? Will be here for a week. Will post some pics shortly...

pregnant? That let's out a hike down into Waimea canyon to the swamp.

Poipu beach is decent for the kids. I like the north end of the island though, up past Hanalei Bay.

Where are you staying?

Depending on how pregnant she is try the Zodiac tours from Hanalei! The zodiacs are amazing and the things you will see and do will be treasured forever! Hanalei is a great place to visit too! Very beautiful! A helicoptor tour of the island is definitely worth it!

As little as possible. Just relax.

Take them to the rainiest place on earth. (top of the island) Maybe look into the bike rental deal were they drive you up and you get to bike down. (for the kids)

We like the north shore / Hanalei area the best as well.

Lumaha'i Beach is spectacular but a bit hard to find and you have to walk down a bit of a trail. During winter it is apparently extremely dangerous to swim/surf there, though.

Lone fisherman

If your kids can hike a couple of miles, you can go all the way to the end of the road and go on the Na Pali coast trail - some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen.

Na Pali Coast

During our last trip, we snorkeled at a beach called "tunnels" IIRC and it was pretty good. There are sea turtles and other cool stuff. Again, during this part of the year I am not sure it is advisable though.

If you are into the golf and spa thing, the Princeville is top notch. Bring money.

Should have specified the 'left' side of the bay, waikokos (sp), which is more mellow. Have surfed both there is there is a big difference. Yer right, Hanalei proper is not for beginners. A certain level of common sense has to be supplied, I am not suggesting a beginner paddle out in double-overhead surf.

Hope the Tan's have a great vacation!!

For those visiting Kauai with your spouse, you might consider renewing your vows with Manulele, in a true Hawaiian ceremony. This lovely lady has a heart of gold, and a voice to match. Enchanted Kauai Weddings - Kauai Wedding Ministers & Officiants, Kauai Wedding Professionals Association

The reason I strongly recommend Manulele is that much of what she earns goes back to the Anahola community, keeping local kids out of trouble: Wix.com KKOA created by Kwoman based on Service Agency

Pizza dinner at Pizzetta in Koloa followed by Lappert's ice cream.

Drive to Kalalau Lookout, at the top/end of the canyon. It looks over the Na Pali coast There are a few lookout points for the canyon along the way as well.

Drive the other way around the island past Princeville to Ke'e Beach. Parking might be hard to find, but it has decent Snorkling. There are other beaches to stop at on the way too.

I found a helicopter tour to be pretty great. The Na Pali coast is spectacular. There are packages where they drop you in a secluded canyon and leave you for a couple hours.
