Actually, Team Associated (Associated Electronics) re-released the original RC10 last year. They broke out most of the original tooling, made some new molds and started banging them out. That's what this one is. Except I did dye the white parts blue and hopped it up with a bunch of anodized aluminum.

They have also done a re-release of the RC10 Team Car (black tub chassis).

I do believe they have all sold out, but are available on ebay.

This is my on-road pavement pounder RC10. VERY versatile package.

Yeah, I have a rerelease myself as well as a couple of originals.

Maybe one of you guys will know:
Is there any reason to not run a 3S lipo in the truck? It's a castle sidewinder ESC, Holmes crawlmaster 16 turn motor and running a 20t pinion/87t spur. It could climb a friggin brick wall on the 2s batteries im using, but it's topping out at about 12mph

I've wanted to get an RC plane for pretty much forever... Now you tell me this.

Also, our 6 year old is seriously into planes now. He will plane XPlane on my ipad for hours, I get bored in about 20 minutes. I've been thinking about building a a sim computer, but thinking a plane would be more fun....

This may be the winner? We have a big field near us, as well as a football practice field near us we could fly from. Thinking the SAFE, will make it a good beginner, then slowly we can back it off as I get better, swapping back to easy for the little one.

Find a local flying club and save yourself a bunch of frustration. Most of the kids and adults that ended up in our club, tried to learn on their own and after crashing and breaking several RTF's, they finally learned to come to a club, where experienced flyers could teach and help.

EDIT: Once a young kid gets a hold of the box, they manage to kill planes. He won't hit the panic button in time, if you try and grab the box in an emergency, things really go wrong and planed hit trees and the ground in very short order. Seen it happen over and over.

Actually, it happened to me as a young adult. RTF glider, brought it to the local soccer fields. Crashed it, but not too hard. Though I was getting the hang of it, called my parents and had them come over. Launched and immediately crashed it straight into the ground, destroying it. Bought a second and joined my local flying club and learned how to fly it in no time with the help of the old timers.

Dave I was with you until a few weeks ago when I picked up a delta ray. It's amazing though I haven't let me kids fly it yet...

More voltage will mean night amp draw. Your crawler isn't designed to go fast.

Get a buggy or something.

Could I hook up a buddy box on the controller so I could hit the panic switch without taking the box from him?

I finally got my hores riding arena barn built, 104'x60' with 14' high joists, so I plan on flying my small copter out there. Indoors it was just a bit out of control, and outdoors, a slight wind would make it drift towards the trees. Unless the big doors are open on the barn, there is no breeze in there. I could probably even fly one of those small Pipers in there.....we'll see.

Safe in beginner mode allows a small amount of bank and pitch and if you let go of the sticks, the plane rights itself. It isn't foolproof, but for a non-stupid adult you should be able to learn. The problem is in beginner mode, you need a lot of space to turn around and you could still stall it if you try real hard. If the young one can listen, they will probably do OK as most issues are stick the wrong direction when the plane changes direction and they lose control.

Sid, you can buddy system and use safe. You will want a second tx anyway.

Yeah, they could but with a buddy box (why wouldn't I do that?) they can't. Right now with my Trojan all he wants to do is loops and rolls. With the delta and safe he has to freaking fly.

You guys have a lot of great looking planes, I have never really been drawn to the scale side of the hobby - I have always been more attracted to the "form follows function" side so most of my planes don't really resemble actual aircraft. I guess that is one of the things about the hobby that is so cool, there are a million different facets to it - just find the niche that appeals to you and follow it...

Not sure how many of you guys are aware of "dynamic soaring". It is a flying technique that allows a glider to build up incredible speeds by flying a circuit through areas of different windspeed on a slope - think of it like when you push someone on a swing and everytime they come by you you give them a nudge and they go higher and higer on the swing. Dynamic soaring is sort of like that where you fly a circle pattern where the majority of the circle the plane is in the wind shadow of a hill so the plane is not being effected by the wind but for a very short period when the plane pops up into the wind and gets a little push so it goes faster and faster with each circle. This is a pretty basic version of it and if you google it there is a ton of information about how it works... Anyway here is a little taste of it.

A couple of my friends have been chasing the 500 mph mark for some time and recently the weather conditions came together for a run at it and they were able to go 505 mph. The plane in the video is a Kinetic 130 or K130 and was designed by a buddy of mine who also happens to be a Porsche guy, (he has a very well prepared 6 cyl 914), and manufactured in the Czech Republic. The plane is made up of composites mostly carbon fiber but it is so stiff feels like it is made of steel... The plane has a 130" wingspan and weighs over 400 ounces. The record was broken at a hill in Weldon, California which is outside of Bakersfield. All speeds were recorded using radar guns, (they are specially prepared for us by the manufacturers to work at the speeds we are regularly flying at, (in excess of 250 mph).

Keep in mind the plane in the video is a glider, the only motors on the plane are for the servos moving the flight surfaces.

I hope you guys like the video, it is way more impressive to see this stuff happen first hand as the video doesn't really capture it all - but as the speeds increase so does the sound and you can actually "feel" the plane as it passes through different layers of air on the slope. It is truly amazing.
