August 1998. As I recall, the board was around 6 months old. I started using my name as my user name. I could see the writing on the wall as far as that being a bad idea on the growing Internet, and changed to another name, lost that password a few years ago and started fresh again. Opposite from what I was in '98 and an Internet newbie, I'm big on Internet privacy now.

Crazy to think how much has happened in my life since then:
Brought a wrecked 911 back to life.
Got married.
Got a doctorate, residency, and another masters degree.
Had two kids.
Spent 10 years in the Navy, lived in several places.
Finally settled back in Colorado.
Bought a practice.
Bought another practice.
Sold my 911, (to a fellow Pelican)
Bought another project car.
Still here.....

I invented the internet.

I was on here before the swap over to this 'newer board' also. I think it was sometime in late '97 or early '98 as that is when I got my first 911. I was in between Pcars when it swapped over and rejoined in Nov. '00.

I'm amazed actually at how many have been here over 10 years. I was a young guy when I found this place. Now look at what happened to me.

I should have been more specific, I meant the most popular forum here on Pelican Parts in 1998.

In the beginning, one of the forums here had just about as much activity/posts as all the others combined.

(Hint: You should be able to guess this one!)

You beat me...although I was lurking here for several months before signing in...as I figured I was too ignorant. Still ignorant, but lots of posts.

I lurked for a while before signing up in May of 2000. Our daughter was born in April of 2000 and I was just beginning my stint as a stay at home dad, but my wife hadn't gone back to work yet. Had lots of time on my hands back then.

I had been looking for a used 911 and found one that needed an engine. Pretty sure my first post was asking about a company called Motormeister. :D

I had another user name and I can't even recall or find it. Late 90's. still have the same old cars I had then.

Well I am not sure? I wrote several of the first tech articles and such? I was using the internet when you have to FTP your porn back and forth and before AOL came along.....Even using dial up to get to BBS's in the San Diego area and then Genie came along and was FREE!

I'm a young pup on here compared to many of you guys... But I was only 16 when I joined!

I was on the PCA Potomac site for a few years before I joined this one. They were well meaning, but a bit too sobersides for me.

I'm just middle aged for a Pelican.

Back in the early and mid 1990s I ran the BBS for PCA. There were no chat rooms, just files useful for the newsletter editors. PCA national paid for my extra phone line and it was all my equipment and US Robotics Dual standard modem that cost me over $500.
