I can tell you from experience the 750 dirt tracker IS epic. That bike will put a smile on your face the coroner couldn't wipe off!

64 degrees from vertical.
Amazing when we see that much lean angle statically demonstrated here.

So very cool! Someday I want to go to Barber for the ARHMA event and maybe get to sit on a TZ 750.

I am fortunate to be friends with the TZ's owner Ray A. of A&A racing. I helped with the build around '98 and have been test rider from day one.

Pics are from a mile race at Sacramento around '02 when I was able to do a few laps during intermission. Riding that thing is always a thrill and I have yet to get off it and not have my hands vibrating from adrenalin spike. In my mind it is definitely a E ticket ride if there ever was one.

On paper, 130 hp and sub 300 lbs may seem dull by modern standards. But 2 stroke power deliver and acceleration are the great equalizer and something capable of looping over backward in 6th on pavement is no slouch. With modern tires and the right rider, these bikes are still capable of doing damage on a mile track had they not been banned.

I was able to rescue and rebuild another of the 5 original TZ's and was almost a 10 year process. This one was ridden by Kenny's friend and protege Skip Aksland. While not as famous as the bike that won Indy in '75, Skip was the only guy to make all 3 mile national main events those machines entered. I wanted the build to be exactly as raced so it has narrow rims and triple clamps, 40 year old tires and Airheart brakes. And instead of looping over in 6th it just makes smoke!

I'm not sure I'd even want to ride that thing! Well, maybe in my dreams.
Thanks for the info and pic.

According to N. Hayden, MM is a cut above all others right now. Willing to risk more ride harder, and can be pushy.

Must be contract time, everybody's trying a little harder!

Aside from his riding skills, etc., I think that Freddie Spencer was the best TV color man broadcaster. He gave some great detailed information about the immediate race that he was watching, but also all about m/c racing in general.
He was a pleasure to listen to.

I'd suggest downloading the whole season from last year. It was probably the best season of motorsports I've ever watched (although I'm open to suggestions for something better!)

I've searched FS! and NBCSP and can't find MotoGP televised. Can somebody give me a heads up when a broadcast is coming.

Flieger 10-11-2014 10:13 AM

It's on early Sunday morning I think. Same time as the F1 race if I remember correctly. I set my DVR to record both. I thought it was FS1.
