Ten most collectable cars

Don't know if anyone posted this already.

https://autos.yahoo.com/news/the-10-most-collectible-cars-right-now-180815155.html

A buddy of mine rolled Datsun like that one the photos, following a long night of partying 40yrs. ago.
The seat belt and windshield frame saved his life.

WOW! love the 930.

Oh, I think most Alfisti loved the Montreal. But keeping it on the road is the big challenge. Other Alfa cars are easier to find parts for, which is why there aren't very many Montreals these days.

Don't put much stock in that article. There are errors so basic in what she wrote it's laughable.

So says a guy who calls himself "dog"...
.
Decades ago I bought a red 2600 Alfa Spyder w/12k miles from an attorney's wife (birthday present from him and she didn't like it) for $2,600.
It was immaculate. One of those that I dread having sold - no good storage for it.

I sold my '62 XKE roadster for $8,500 in 1982. Was happy with my $5,000 profit.

First model year, 1955, 7th car off the line. 2 (sorta) owner car. Have had it 50 years. Pop hauled it out of a friends barn in Germany in 64'.

Gratuitous stable mate shot.

I should buy another one while they are still affordable.

Still kicking myself for not grabbing an URQ when they were readily available and still reasonable.

Love those things.

That white car is not your basic ur-quattro. You can still buy a normal one for reasonable money. Not that you'd really want to, if you'd lived with one for a while...

What you should have done is bought a sport quattro when they could be had for $60k.

Yeah, the SportQ is crazy, stupid money now. I had a chance to pick up an Ocean Blue UrQ, 84 or 85, in fantastic shape for $9500 a few years ago. I had no place to store it, so I passed. As it turns out, I should have rented a storage unit, LOL.

Lovely Scott - Don't ever sell it unless in a position to have to have the money. That is my theory now.

No plans to.

I grew up in the back seat of that thing. It's been with me my entire life. My kids don't have much interest so my plan for when I'm too old to deal with it any longer is to ship it back off to Stuttgart and let the museum take care of it / display it.

While my feelings may change right now I can't bear the thought of anyone else touching her.

The car is unique. My fathers research indicates it's the oldest one still around, #7, it was the first coupe sold to the public, and there are strong indications it was the display car used for auto shows in 55' though we can't 100% confirm that.

About 25 years ago my father was looking at the original bill of sale and noticed the car had been sold with the factory luggage set. He sent a letter off to the original owner who had passed away by that time but his widow responded with "there's something in the attic that sounds like what you are describing". A few weeks later a big box shows up with the complete luggage set looking like it had never been used.

Score.
