I like ties actually, but to wear a tie you must wear a long sleeve dress shirt, and its too damn hot out here for that!

I have never been anyplace where it is too hot to wear a tie, including Houston.

I have some T-shirts from those guys

I have some from wildties.com, which does not seem to like my current browser.

A tie?

What possible reason would I have to wrap a strong rope of cloth around my neck and tie it off with a fancy knot and then tighten it down around my neck?

Next thing you are going to expect me to put on a coat and some long pants. Ain't gonna do it and you can't make me.

Are you kidding. I hate wearing a long sleeve button up, much less a tie. Bet then, I'm alway hot unless it's really cool outside.

The last time I wore a tie for work was about 20 years ago. I was doing some due diligence thing on an acquisition. I opened an HVAC cabinet door and the end of the tie flew into the cabinet and missed getting in the fan and pulley by about an inch. BIG ASS Pulley and fan belt.

Many years ago back when Kodak was king we had a Kodak repairman working on new processor we bought. They had a near uniform of long sleeved shirts and ties. I watched as he leaned forward and his tie was grabbed by a roller and started pulling him down. I yanked the main power to the processor and handed him a sharp knife and watched him cut his tie off. I walked out of the room and sat down in a fit of giggles.

Glen, a photocopier might hurt, but nothing like a 200 HP electric motor and pulley system pulling your face into it.

You just have to plan your day a little and have a kick ass air conditioner. Dark tinted windows helps in the car. When I lived in Texas, I was always going from one heavily air conditioned place to another in a white Honda with dark tint on the windows, and then to the lake at the end of the day. Long sleeve button down shirt with a t shirt underneath, white coat hanging up wherever I am going during the day.

I have some very groovy silk ties. Disney characters, Jerry Garcia designs, Tabasco(I like it, what can I say), Frank Lloyd Wright Christmas card made into a tie is probably my current fave. I have them for holidays too. I bet I have 5 Santa/Christmas themed ones

I have a tie with a picture of Elvis singing to a hound dog. The paisley one with tiny Mickey Mouse heads that is primarily a most excellent shade of green. I think I have one with palm trees and VWs somewhere. but I don't really like the material.

Hah, sweet! I just bought one of the blipshift ties. We have to wear 'em at work from Labor Day through Memorial Day.

Ties=funeral or wedding... don't think a car tie would work for those events.
When I was a field service tech I had to wear a tie... had a collection of goofy ones just to rebel.

As a rule I never wore ties to work since being a machinist they could get in the way and later on as a MFG Eng I only wore them to design review functions.
The Gov't guys all got a kick out of my Binford tie when I wore it to the critical design review on my last project.
