meet the new boss
After Milo passed, we decided to wait until it felt like time to bring another cat into the house. Well, a few weeks ago I figured it was time to wander by the animal shelter. After some consternation, Ivan came home with us. Much to the chagrin of Twiggy (on the right - now more of a trunk than a twig) at first, but now they are best buddies. Ended up needing to do a week+ of meds to get rid of some maladies, but now he's romping and all kitten (about 4 mos old or so).
Ivan is Russian Blue mixed probably with tabby. He has a story - evidently his mom and his siblings were strays being fed by a person who ended up passing away. The neighbors adopted as many of the family as they could, with Ivan and the mom ending up as the odd cats out, sent to the shelter. The mom was already adopted and Ivan was last one standing. He's already a spectacular cat. Very different personality than Twiggy or Milo, and he currently seems to think that a) people are cats, and, b) every object is a toy. Oh the kitten life...

I love me some cats. Ivan seems to appreciate his opportunity. Duh.
Below are Pickles and Boo, two cats from the same litter we got for free at an Amish Auction two years ago. They are barn cats, have their own secure space and, frankly, are living the dream. I love me some cats. Our house cat is a tree rescue, long story but she and her brother were abandoned at the Church my wife attends. That was fifteen years ago. Dee Dee stills owns the house, Dexter has unfortunately left the building. Both great cats.

![]() Here are our shelter cats. Indy and Mocha. In sad sad shape almost a year ago. Fleas, ear mites, ringworm, worms. It took about 6 weeks to get them lined out. We've had found, abandoned, cats for 36 years. Mocha is by far the smartest cat we've ever had and Indy one of the more lovable. Mocha plays fetch like a dog as long as you keep flipping that mouse out there. Pretty good entertainment.
