The Bruins are tied for first place

The Boston Bruins are in a dead tie for the President's Trophy this year! ;)

Its the most wonderful time of the year...

I'd let the champagne chill a little longer Joe.

I'm glad its started too!

Boston will finish first in the East. They should make it to the final, but I don't think they can beat any of the top four teams from the West.

Will see.

I agree - the west is brutally tough - Finn's & my team might finish high enough to make the playoffs & most likely as a wild card. The "West is Best"

JB, I think the Canucks have a good shot at the playoffs this year, all you have to do is get in then anything can happen.
Did that bum "Tort's" get a job coaching this year, never heard but I doubt his door is being kicked down after what he did to the Canucks last year, if I recall all but 2 players had their worst seasons ever.
I expect better from the Oiler's this year, but then I said that last year too.

Question: Will Kane be a Jet past the trade deadline?

Hi Finn

Torts is still counting the remainder of his 8 million dollar portion of Aquilini's money so I doubt he is any hurry & as you say "there won't be many beating a path to his door". I too agree the 'Earlers' should have a better season & as for Kane, I don't know, but it is a situation of interest. You can bet the price will be high.

Cheers
JB

Commentators are saying if anyone can beat the West, it would be the Bruins.
Tie game against the Wings tonight.

Only because the East should be a cakewalk for them, while LA, Chicago, Anaheim, etc have to be defeated to get out of the West.

The Bruins have a distinct advantage in that regard.

Only if he scores 25 or more goals before then. No one wants a problem child unless they can score.

No longer in first.

Well I can dish it out so I need to take my medicine.

Yep. The Bruins look pitiful this year. They had to let go their only top scorer: Iguana. They trade away a solid, long term, strong contributor: Boychuk. They trade away their only real enforcer who watched everybody's back: Thornton.
The only bright spot to losing to our most hated nemisis the Habs, is that we scored a bunch of goals. Also, as with the previous game against Detroit, we are looking far more healthy in the offense dept. If it weren't for Howard having an awesome night (he is so inconsistent) it would have been a blowout.

The only way we are going to have a strong season is if Rask plays to the level he's being paid. In the past (not so far this year) he's been a strong goalie but I just don't think that he's all that and a bag of chips. Part of his past numbers have been because of Seidenberg, Chara, etc. Consistent is good but to support a team with holes in it we will need consistent and miraculous highlight reel saves.

No doubt, the Brooklyners (I mean Islanders) are looking good.

I'm gonna miss Thorton. Radio station, WAAF station used to talk to him every Thursday am.

I miss Tim Thomas. I can't say he'd play like he did 3 years ago but he was a blast to watch. My all time fav goalie to watch was the Hasek. Thomas was a close second. This first shot is when Avery gave Tim a drive by cheap shot so Tim chased him down and gave him a pounding!

Then there were saves like this

I love it when he'd go out to the faceoff circle to block a shot.

What happened last night?

Por_sha911 10-17-2014 06:12 PM

10 goals and too many went into the Bruin net. :(
Good news: Bruins are starting to score goals this season.
Bad news: they lost their killer defense and Rask isn't stepping up to fill in the gap.

JJ 911SC 10-18-2014 02:52 AM

I was at another show on Thursday.

Just saw the idiot in the stand that was shinning a "laser" (the beam was very fat) to Rask (who said he did not see it).

Can't believe they did not through him out :confused::rolleyes:

1990C4S 10-18-2014 08:37 AM

The Bruins have run into a couple of hot goalies. They aren't that bad.

Por_sha911 10-18-2014 04:44 PM

Now that they're putting goals on the board they aren't doing so badly. First few games not so much. I think they are still trying to sort out the new lines. Also, Krug and Smith were no-shows for most of pre-season and I'm sure that didn't help the team on multiple levels
